Should I be a paramedic or firefighter. UK citizen?
whichever you can become fastereasier to switch between two jobs like that
>>33684429you must be masochist if you want to work in a job where the majority of people you encounter are violent retards
>>33684429I can only speak from my experience in America but I would 1000% go for firefighting over EMS of any kind. Not only is it much cooler but also more fulfilling. I have experience as a firefighter and in EMS and given the option I would always be a firefighter (although where I live many volunteer departments require you are also at minimum an EMT-B while some paid departments in my area require you get certified as a medic too). While its a little more physically demanding its also fun at times. EMS you deal with more gross and annoying people and situations and it is very common to get burned out, I have never seen a firefighter get burned out or sick of his job
>>33687270The problem with firefighting in the uk is that it is an incredibly competitive role. Some guys take 3 tried of applying before they get accepted in
>>33687502Its that way over here too, at least in states which use civil service such as mine (NYS). Because of affirmative action its even more competitive for white candidates who don't get preferential treatment. There is a reason its so competitive though, because everyone wants to do it and its a killer career
Not OP but ain't Fire Fighter a better choice here? you rarely get sent out of emergency response but of course you'll have to do training to keep in shape. If you're an athletic person this is a dream come true to most of them. Its rare you get to fire fighting roles but if you do it's going to be intense but comparing to paramedic you'll be so busy all the time.Since I'm not athletic I would prefer paramedic but if I was I would go for fire fighter.
>>33687789Im currently in the process of applying for the fire service right now and Im going to apply for a paramedic apprenticeship once vacancies reopen sometime in spring. I just want to do a uniformed job. I tried getting into the military but they couldn't let me in due to medical reasons.
Paramedics should have really strong heart or heartless if dead bodies doesn't disturb be paramedic. If yes be firefighter.
>>33684429>UK>paramedicReminds me of the crazy dancing nurses in empty hospitals before 2023.>firefighter,Cool, manly job saving lives and property like a hero while getting close to becoming an IRL erotic calendar model for the ladies.
>>33684429If you become a firefighter you must acknowledge that you're in for some potentially grisly injuries when diving into burning buildings. Seen plenty of horror stories about burn victims, vegetative states and whatnot. Once you're aware of that risk, then you can go full speed ahead.
>>33688300>>33688115>>33687789I kind of want to go paramedic because I heard that once you become fully qualified you can apply for positions abroad which is basically my end goal because I want to leave the country. I dont want to doe here. Im British by name but not by nature.
