Is trucking a good job for an autistic? I already live in a tiny cramped room and sit in front of a screen all day. I have no friends or family and have an erratic sleeping schedule. Figured I might as well sit at a wheel all day instead.
all trucks will be automated within 5 years so prolly not
>>33694464Your retarded
>>33694350yea, its a job that requires a lot of precision and monotony, without a lot of changes or exceptions to what you do, and best of all it pays a lot. it's perfect for someone mildly autistic

>>33694350How's your physical health? Because you need to pass a DOT physical and all of that gay ass shit.
>>33694350It depends.. are from India or Pakistan?
>>33694464thats what they said 10 years agoreality is art got automated and trucking is impossible to automate yet
>>33694464They said this 10 years ago.Realistically trucking probably won't be automated for another 10 to 15 years at least. Self-driving cars have developed a lot slower than anticipated, and even once the technology is there there's going to be a lot of regulatory fighting until they actually replace real truckers. But to answer your question OP, yes it is. It's a pretty repetitive task where you don't have to interact with people. And it's a pretty good job to quickly make 70-80k/y (at least in the US). There isn't that much room for going higher than that though.
>>33694350I'm autistic as well (high functioning, whatever that means), I became a trucker after being a neet for 5 years out of uni, I had tried working but my combined work experiences during those 5 years was about 2 month, which is fuck all. That is due to the fact that the entry level jobs I tried are terrible (most entry level are like that it seems). But I got an opportunity, got my shit together and passed my country's equivalent of a CDL with a company hiring me after training. The cool thing about trucking is that it's not necessarily one job, it can be many. You can drive dump trucks, concrete trucks, garbage trucks, ice trucks, trucks with trailers or no trailers, tankers, containers, long routes, short routes, day schedule, night schedule, no schedule.I actually got into a niche activity, 50% of my time is driving, the rest 50% is operating some pretty cool and technical piece of equipment that is on my truck, won't go into details because paranoia.I drive short routes, I leave home in the morning and come home in the afternoon/late afternoon.Of course the more hours you do, the more you get paid, so there is a balance to be found there as well depending on what you want to do/how much you want to earn. Also gotta factor in your health, if 100% of your time is spent driving, that is going to cost you in the long run.I'm not completely alone all the time because I have to get loaded at the warehouse and I interact with the customers, but the rest of the time I chill with my music while driving or I focus on operating my equipment. Not gonna lie though, it does require some qualities that not everyone has, you will be driving a vehicle that is BIG and HEAVY, in most jobs if you mess up it's not biggy or maybe you hurt yourself. A truck is a weapon of mass destruction, if you fuck up the material and human toll get get pretty high. But if you are naturally careful, focused and diligent, it's alright.Sorry for the blogpost.
