Is this even worth studying for if I don't have any IT experience? I'm at the end of my rope as a 31-year-old loser and am grasping at straws for any type of low-paying shitty entry-level career.
IT work sucks and is glorified customer service work. Early in your career you will be stuck in low-level help desk work. I don't mean to discourage you, just want to tell you the reality of it. Only you can say if doing that will put you on a better trajectory than your current situation. It sounds like it might, but just make sure you know what you're getting into. IT support guys always seem way more miserable than developers or database admins.
>>33702795I'm more than willing to work hell-desk. The problem is that even if I get the CCNA I feel I'll be passed up just because I don't have any prior IT experience. If I could actually get a job I'd be willing to suck it up and stay there even if it sucks.
>>33702821In this job market you kinda have to lie or embellish your prior experience. Employers are scumbags who want perfect candidates with 10 years of experience who will accept entry-level roles and pay. Is there anything on your resume you could spruce up a bit, like a data entry job that you could say was some tech support internship or something?
>>33702831>Is there anything on your resume you could spruce up a bit Unfortunately not. But thanks anyways for the advice, I'll try to get this shit sorted out.
>>33702782are you the boomer from my /v/ thread?
Healthcare. We have 5-10 years after all other careers before AI comes for our jobs. I use a fax machine multiple times daily. You can get a med tech job from a 2 year associates and work in just about any city in the country.
