how do i get out of going to a convention with friends in two weeks? i was invited 3 months ago and said yes to be nice but i never wanted to go to begin with
>why do you not want to go?
because:
>i want to save $200 ($50 for the hotel cost)
>were staying in a hotel for 3 days and i dont want to be forced to socialize that much
>theres two couples going with us and that makes me sad/uncomfortable to witness
>the group is too big (8 people including me)
also i live with two of the people going so it has to be an actual excuse
>inb4 some retarded faggot says "uhh just dont go sweaty/just tell them you dont want to go"/just go
dont reply to the thread with any variation of this text. telling them the truth isnt an option. i also cant simply state that i dont want to go because that invites more questions.
THE ENTIRE POINT OF THIS THREAD IS THAT I DONT WANT TO GO.

fake covid or something. get a test and make it show a false positive

>said yes to be nice
Let that be a lesson to you. No good deed goes unpunished.

sudden heavy deadline at school or work
>>
Go to the gym the day before and work out until you physically cannot anymore. You will feel like death and it will be a valid excuse.

If brown: "Oh no! I need to go to Pakistan for my cousins wedding!!!"
If white: "Oh no! My grandmother is in hospital and I need to go see my parents!!"
Shit like that. So easy.

You could get hit by a car you sad coward

I disagree with your assertion that saying you don't want to go isn't an option.
Clearly you have issues setting boundaries and want to please people.
Lying this time just kicks the can down the road instead of making the necessary changes.
I'm guessing you are a woman by the "sweaty" line. Say you have terrible period cramps and heavy bleeding. Or say you had a miscarriage. This will make people so uncomfortable they won't ask too many questions.

Getting moved across state lines? Just say no! You cannot legally be moved across state lines without your consent.

Someone in this thread explain OP's specific retardation to me and tell me what brain malfunction prevents a person from simply saying no to optional content.
>>
i had something similar happen. i also had this idea in my head that i couldn't tell them the truth because that invited more questions
consulted some of my friends, they all told me just say you had a change of mind and you don't want to go
brought it up to them, they understood we all moved on, everyone happy.

people are more understanding than you realise
you're reading too much into it

it also depends how close you are with them, sometimes you just thug it out and still go and in the end it will still be fun. you can always make more money (idk how broke you are)

anyways tldr
people are more understanding than you think
others really don't think it's that deep

if you are close with them you should just go and thug it out, maybe it will be fun

Whatever you do, do it soon. If your pulling out is going to cost them each some money or just screw up the logistics, you have to give them time to try to find a replacement or work around you.

"Joe dropped out of the trip" can be excused a lot quicker than "Joe dropped out of the trip and I had to come up with extra money to cover his part"

OK, that means you will go.
Believe it or not, OP, people have done longer stretches at prison for making dumb decisions.
Count yourself lucky you're only in for three days for doing something stupid.
Try not to be too grouchy, you might accidentally have fun despite your bad attitude.

>telling them the truth isnt an option
And why is that? Why do you HAVE to lie to your friends?
>>

im a man with cock and balls.
>>33731804
its within the same state. also i cant just tell them no because theyre going to ask questions and then i have to explain
>>33732793
>people are more understanding than you think
in my experience it always the opposite
>>33733712
im not going to have fun because of the reasons i explained already which is why i dont want to go
>>33733734
if i tell them theyre going to be upset with me. in this scenario telling the truth is much worse than lying
>>
They have a full house with 8 people they are not going to miss you. Just say something came up and you can't make it. Literally anything. "Work is getting rough and my Friday is going to be way late." "My tooth started acting up and the only apppointment I could get was on that Friday. I'll probably be in too much pain the Saturday to enjoy it." "I'm shitting my brains out send help."
>>

>if i tell them theyre going to be upset with me.
So? If they're actually your friends they'll be upset for maybe a day and then be fine. If they hold it against you for an extended period of time then they're shitty friends, and you don't owe them your time at that point.
>>

you need to get some better friends or keep dealing with this bs
the solution is right in front of you, now it's up to you to open your eyes
