What are your thoughts on using AI / CGPT as your therapist?I started using CGPT to ask one off questions after posting here got me like 2-3 low effort responses. I found it was genuinely incredibly helpful so I pretty much stopped coming to this board.I'm thinking of making an account (so it keeps track of what I say) and doing therapy sessions since they're like $150 each. Has anyone else done this?
>>33739862Therapy is genuinely useless. Paying a human for it and getting it for free from a robot are almost equally sad but I think free from a robot is a little less sad so go with that.
>>33739862Contrary to what many anons might say, I find using AI as a starting point for therapy to be quite useful. It's available pretty much any time, and depending on the nature of the bot itself you can approach it more casually than you might an IRL therapist (i.e. if the bot is a "character" bot that is built to act as a childhood friend, you can roleplay the interaction as you opening up to a trusted friend instead of a stranger, which can be far more comfortable). But, and this is important, chatting with a bot will only get you so far. If you have an issue that genuinely needs theraputic intervention or medication, a bot will not be able to provide the same resources as a therapist. Bots are designed with the end user in mind, meaning they can and many times will default to what you WANT to hear, not necessarily what you NEED to hear. In addition, information given to bots are not protected by HIPAA, and while there is standard network security in place for data leaks and the like, there's really nothing preventing the sites hosting these bots from using the information you give them for their own purposes. I think the best route is using AI and IRL therapists hand in hand, using the AI to drill down to what the core issues you're dealing with are before bringing them up to a real therapist to deal with them.
>>33739862Chatgpt has a limited memory per chat session even with the highest plan. I was using it to play as a ZORK-like game and found the hard coded message limit. It will forget you and your conversations will be read by a bunch of IT guys training the next model
