I'm 28 years old and have no close friends. I've been a loner all my life and while I was content I now seek to experience friendship and do things with others as well that I may live a full life. The only problem is I don't know how to make friends or what the process is even like. How does one accomplish this? I've been trying at work with little success. I don't have any hobbies currently apart from lifting. I've been considering many different things such as a run club (although I hate running), picking up a sport or martial art, writing, music, acting/film, church, etc. but then get paralyzed by indecision. With many of these I don't even know how to get into them or get started. I don't have a girlfriend either which is a related problem but don't have any girls to socialize with to begin with. Please help

Where do you live

take it from someone who 'fixed' this 'problem' - i was happier being a loner. the banana tempts the little monkey, but its sweetness rots his teeth.

How did you fix it?

I'm 32 and made a couple new friends at my last job that I still hang with but my two good friends I've known since I was 19. You can make friends but I don't know how close they'll ever be at your age. The best adult friendships have an underlying layer of all the dumb shit you got up to as kids. Hell, half the time I see them we reminisce about the good old days.

Honestly I can't help you OP but I feel for you.

I unfortunately slowly drifted away and lost contact with the people I grew up with as they moved away, went to school, etc. Many of them who are still in town I don't have much in common with anymore, it sucks.

Literally me. Except in theory I understand its just a matter of connecting with people you interact with on a regular basis, finding common interests, and then either meeting up or simply finding ways to bond over those mutual interests.
So if your hobbies are lifting, maybe see if your coworkers are interested in starting and offer to be their gym buddy.

How do you ask without sounding gay?

>normal conversation
>topic of exercise comes up
>other person says something about how they want to get back into it or they're curious to try
>you invite them to tag along wirh you and show them the ropes or hold them accountable
Wa la.

From the avdentalwellness website...
>Banana is one of the best fruits for your teeth. Not only does it stimulate saliva production, but it also helps clean away leftover food particles on your teeth after a meal. Bananas are a source of vitamin B6, which the body needs to produce antibodies. These antibodies help prevent gum disease..

It's over, buddy. You had to learn this when you were young and your brain was forming new connections. You know... just like everyone else does. You can't just be a loner for nearly 30 years and then come out one day and be like "let's socialize, b*atches". It just won't work and you'll look like a real weirdo.
