Anyone hate being addressed by name? I thought I did only because my legal first name is really ugly. After adopting my middle name or some different nicknames at workplaces, it still feels like I'm in trouble when a coworker calls me by any name. Wish they'd just say "hi, excuse me." or tap my shoulder.

I dislike it, but it's fine if they needed to actually get my attention. I work as a warehouse manager so sometimes I'm actually busy with something and it's unavoidable. But if I've already made eye contact, it does bother me when they start with Hey Anon.
How To Win Friends and Influence People tells you to refer to everyone by name all the time and promises it will make them like you more

yeah i don't like the concept of names either, i wish we could just not have a name at all. it's not realistic but i hope one day we could live without any names somehow.also some of my friends have a similar opinion on this, so we don't call each other by names, just nicknames when needed. my and my friends' names are pretty default and not any ugly btw.you should try telling your coworkers about this trigger as well. i think it's fine to tell them. nothing is weird about it.
>>33746093>not having a nameI'd like that too desuWould have told my coworkers, but ngl I made this thread specifically because a superior pointed out that I never call people by their names. Said that I was both too polite and addressing people incorrectly
>>33744522Idc desu, the only reason I hate my name is because of other people.
