After finishing my night shift at my security position I got called in by HR and an internal investigator. I'm not in trouble but what they told me was that someone from one of the response crews that I work with had taken photos of my own personal work/journal without my knowledge and raised concerns about some of the content in it. They were on my side and agreed with me that this was a breach of confidentiality and told me that I have a choice: I could go the informal route or formal route. (Informal is just a chat) (formal requires me to give a statement and have disciplinary proceedings take place) Considering that I'm thinking of leaving the job I feel like this is the final nail in the coffin for my position here.
Do you have an example of what you suspect those concerns might be? Anything incriminating? This is private shit that has nothing to do with your job, you should be furious about the fact this has become a hr case, you will tell them that.
>>33745674sue for whatever would get you cash and leave
>>33745674Are there grounds for suing here? It's obviously their responsibility to keep those things under lock and key.
>>33745733Nothing incriminating. I was able to see one of the pages that they took photos of and the only thing that would be seen concerning is me saying that I hate my fucking job. What really gets me is that whoever did this had to be in their late 30’s or 40’s and this must’ve happened when I asked someone to cover the control room because thats the only time i ask someone to come in. I leave my journals on my desk but I don't expect someone and especially these people to just fucking go through it.
>>33745752No, it was my own personal notebook left on my work desk. I don’t think there are grounds for suing.
>>33746019Somebody invading your privacy greatly outweighs you writing a journal entry that you wrote during a moment of stress. You should not be the bad guy here, you have grounds to tell hr that you feel violated and want to take action, which will force them into compromise mode and you likely won't face any consequences for writing about how shit your shit job is. If they still don't want to take your side because you are not a company man and don't lick the bosses balls then start looking elsewhere because who would want to work with a company like that?
>>33746019>but I don't expect someone and especially these people to just fucking go through it.
>>33745674So they read your diary, bummer.
>>33746044Yeah thinking about it now and going through it with my brother I'm pursuing formal action. I write some personal shit in there and who knows what that guy might have saw and who he must’ve told. Its just as-well because i was thinking of leaving the company anyway. The head of HR told me she will support me through the process so this would be a hood excuse to just pack up and leave after I come back from my holiday next month.
I would request some kind of written confirmation or have an email chain confirming things. Certainly if you're worried about the contents being exposed I would go the formal route so this is as documented as it can be. If you honestly don't really care you could just leave it. Personally I wouldn't care if someone likes their job or not as long as there's no performance concerns. You aren't paid to be happy, you're paid to do what is asked of you.t. HR
>>33746708>how much is exposed?Yeah this. The photos he took are of what I know of. Who knows how much this guy knows because there is a lot of sensitive stuff in there that I don’t want the wring people to see.
