Oldest child is the trial run child where parenting is full of stress and mistakes.
Youngest child is where parents have relaxed, for better or worse.
Middle children are somewhere on a spectrum between those.
>>
Yes, usually.
Im the youngest of 3 and I can tell they love the older more, but they feel pity for me so it seems like the love me more but they dont.
>>
No, they just had more time with the oldest. They learned childcare with them, they were all their firsts.

Second kid comes along and you have half the time/energy for each kid. And on and on...

More kids and the oldest becomes slightly parentified to help with the family.

Unless the parents hate each other and one kid is more like them / more like the other

In my family, the oldest (my brother) is my dad's favorite. The youngest (another brother) is my mom's favorite. I happened to be born at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Some do. Some love the last-born, the baby of the family, more. And some have no favorites

It varies, but they usually favour the youngest.

Ishmael and Esau each got screwed.

Love? No. More experience suggesting more comfort and familiarity, yes. I have two kids, 3 and 1, and I definitely (however unintentionally) prioritize my oldest a bit more (not in any major ways, just like if they both want my attention I tend to deal with the oldest first). Not because I love my youngest any less, but just because I'm more hardwired to respond to the one I have been caring for longer. Right now they're young enough I can get away with it, but as they get older I do intend on making sure they both know they are loved equally in both action and word.

No. The parent tends to love the
Baby far more.

The oldest child is actually the most likely to have their needs ignored to help balance other parts of the house or to support younger siblings and are very often parentified.
They are by far the least loved child on average.

The exception is if the eldest is the only child. Then all resources simply funnel to that one child.
