Should I go into Accounting with the aim of getting a CPA? The program is 16 months. I have a MS in Comp Eng but couldn't get a job for a year. I am afraid I will never get a job again because of the gap. My 2 years of experience might as well counted as 0 since I can't even get fresher job. On the other hand, accounting without CPA is also being replaced by AI and H1B. And CPA exam is a different kind of hell. I also have a conditional job offer from ICE for 50k (Miller lied about the 50000 bonus, it's only for vet). I have tried to get a warehouse job or similar but no one would hire a MS. My social skills are dumpster tier so I can't get any service job.

I also have a gun as the final option. I recently saw a twitter post of HR default option being reject without email and can't take it anymore

kinda hard to tell, have u REALLY tried to get a job within this year u were unemployed? is ur MS from a prestigious college? are u in a 'tech' city? have u seen many accounting roles around u? do u have a good curriculum/portfolio? how old are u? in what role did you gain these two years of experience?
>>

Probably over 1k applications right now

>is ur MS from a prestigious college?
It's Boston Uni, a mid tier college

>are u in a 'tech' city?
I am willing to relocate and apply everywhere. Lost some potential jobs because I wasn't local to some flyover states even though I offered to relocate without assistance

>how old are u? in what role did you gain these two years of experience?
30 yo. 2 years as Software dev

> do u have a good curriculum/portfolio?
I work on software similar to Supplylogix from McKesson. If you ever buy anything from CVS, I probably worked on it. It's all licensed codes so I can't show any. And most HR won't even know that the language I used exists

I am willing to relocate so location doesn't matter

What kind of jobs did you apply for?
>>

>My 2 years of experience might as well counted as 0 since I can't even get fresher job.
You should go into business for yourself. 1 that pads your resume and fills the gap. 2 if you do it right, you won't *need* to apply for another job.

>My social skills are dumpster tier
Start something web based. I'm getting into eCommerce and WebDev for example. Low overhead, can be done easily, and you can employ yourself.

>1K applications
Brother, are you tuning your resume to fit key words in the job description? I haven't applied for jobs since 2022, but even then, my resume was slightly different for *every* single job I applied to to underscore different skills or include a fuckton of keywords that was in the job description. I'm sure you know AI or other algorithms are sifting through resumes before a human even reads them, right? They'll instantly throw away whatever doesn't match keywords in the job description.

Like the anon above said, start your own accounting business.

Entry level SWE. The type that needs 0 experience and pay like dirt. I ask for only 50,000 since UPS is paying 20$/hour or 40k a year for a temp clerk even in the middle of nowhere. My previous job paid like 150k.

>>33821400
I don't have an entrepreneur mindset and not fit to be a leader. I did try freelancing on fiverr and debug AI code to train them for a while but those didn't work out.

>resume
I did put in everything I know, even stuff I only know tangentially. Most jobs I think I should match 70-80% of the word salads in their description. Sometimes, I do get an email saying my resume passed the initial pass and will be reviewed by a human but they always rejected me afterward. I am not sure how I can modify it more beside bolding the techs they are asking. It's not like I can change my previous job experience or education. Nobody even looks at courseworks

>My previous job paid like 150k.
What happened to your previous job?
>but those didn't work out.
Why not?

Got outcompeted by actual senior dev with way more technical knowledge and experience than me. All the downsizing from big corps flush the market with thousands of dev. I think it is like 50k dev fired just this year.

>previous job
got replaced by AI. Also Trump doing the new AI EHR with Oracle didn't help anyone not Oracle. And eve Oracle is laiding off people
>>
>>33821555
>didn't help anyone not Oracle
What? It didn't help Oracle, you mean?
Is your competition Indians?
>>
>>33821608
Oracle got the big contract and everyone else in the industry got shafted. However, Oracle still laid off a bunch of people even when they are winning.

>Indians
Yeah, it's the H1B. Somehow a visa mill got my email and send me an offer to do a H1B visa for me and get me into a job that only hire Indians. There are also some for Mandarin speakers only but they are far fewer. To be honest, it's all so tiresome
>>
>>33821187
After moving from a startup to a big company it’s insane to see how many white collar jobs are just useless fake email jobs where half the job is circulating emails and the other half is self-promoting yourself to higher ups so your job continues to exist
realistically I reckon 35% of white collar jobs could be cut and work would continue exactly as normal. It’s no coincidence that these “jobs” are mainly done by younger white women
>>
>>33821669
Does Oracle control the entire tech industry or something?
Why not get one of those Indian-tier jobs? Temporarily, as a stepping stone of course.
>>
>>33821699
>mainly done by younger white women
*by women
ftfy
>>
>>33821752
t. white woman
Asian and Indian girls actually can do real work
>>
>>33821747
They are called Indians job because they only hire Indians. They actually already have Indian candidates lined up. They only post it, reject everyone then use it as an excuse to apply for H1B visa
>>
>>33821747
This is a subset of tech industry and only a few big players are in it. The entire tech industry is dead or dying desu. AI took over junior dev role so they only need senior dev instead of an entire team like before.
>>
>>33821780
No way... but what about le racism?
>>
>>33821785
Oh wow, how schemy
>>33821789
>AI took over junior dev role so they only need senior dev instead of an entire team like before.
So then what's the point of getting a tech degree anymore?
