I know this is going to sound like some absolutely retarded trivial immature ass horseshit and the best decision is to simply move on and not do anything at all but I'm going to ask anyway.I own a small restaurant and a neighboring local restaurant that I was in a great, mutual business relationship with completely fucked me over and tried to get my restaurant shut down last year, in the dead of winter no less. It took me forever to recover financially while that cocksucker coasted by on nepotism and agricultural rulings that allowed him to expand his business, even getting local awards through his connections to old money fraternities.I know it's petty as shit to want "revenge" and the whole spot they have is a miserable pile of shit fueled by rampant cocaine addiction and alcoholism that will likely implode on itself without me having to do anything but I can't shake the urge of wanting to get back at them in some way. Part of me wants out of the restaurant business altogether because all it feels like is backstabbing, substance abuse, and stress but I'm in the grind of it.
are we doing this legally or ?
>>33833490As for your revenge. How far are you willing to go? A fistfight? Slashing his tires? Dumping trash in front of his restaurant to scare off customers?Look. the best revenge (and I know this is going to sound fucking cheesy) is to get revenge by becoming better. Why, you ask? Why not just shit on him? You can do that too, but don't get too invested in it. The thing is, you'll have more time thinking about improving and being happier than focusing on your hatred. The hatred will burn better if you use it for your own gain, though the scars may never disappear. You just hinted towards something that may be better. Quitting the restaurant business! And doing something that might be better for you.
>>33833573This is fucking lame advice. Putting yourself through the grinder to climb the career ladder and be able to kinda sorta afford basic necessities is not revenge, nor is it fulfilling. The world is a crumbling nightmare and hard work is rewarded only in the crudest, most rudimentary sense of the word.If you want to get revenge on this seedy shithole, fight fire with fire. How did they try to get you shut down? Can you deploy any of the same tactics? Can you get them health coded?Waste their time. Waste their money. Stress them out. Make them angry.
>>33833614>Putting yourself through the grinder to climb the career ladderI never said that, asshole. I thought OP might want to open a different kind of business!
>>33833532I'm open to any kind of suggestion.>>33833573>Quitting the restaurant business!I'm not opposed to this either but there's obviously an attachment even if it's not in my best interest in any regard. When I look logistically it likely doesn't make much sense. Last year, which was our roughest so far of 4 years, my income after everything was $50k. If I sell everything off that's in my name, I could roughly make double that. I also have zero debt, all my loans for the business are paid off but if I continue down this path I will need more loans in the future. >>33833614>How did they try to get you shut down? Health permit reasons that they themselves were guilty of and threatened to blame me for it if I didn't give them a higher percentage of our income. When I refused, he did exactly that, pinned his health code violations on us and badmouthed us to the community. I had no leverage so I was forced to move my location outside of the city where the department of agriculture approved our kitchen.>Can you deploy any of the same tactics? Not that I'm aware of, he did recently have to have a vent hood on the roof of his building because he got caught frying illegally, so I guess that's his karma there.
