>be me
>have autism
>have complicated love-hate relationship with own mother
>turn 18 today
>plan to try out alcohol with my older brother later, though my mother said i should never drink alcohol in my life
>wants to have a job to buy anything and commission artists online to draw anything i want them to draw while opening up a PayPal account (and secretly move out but i can't do it because my mom told me as a child to promise her never to leave her house and stay with her forever, and i couldn't refuse).
>tell mom i want to have a job and asks her for my ID card so i can register a PayPal account
>my mom, who believes autistic adults can't take care of themselves alone, gets weirded out and says "what do you need a job AND a PayPal account for??? Just ask mommy to buy anything you want, sweetie!"
Help, how do i grow up without her being sad? I don't want to have a job while having to deal with my mother complaning every day about me going "too hard on myself". I don't want to live with my mom forever and be made fun of for it. I don't want to have her use my Twitter account to DM artists for commissions.
Meanwhile my father and brother are completely supportive of what i want to do as an adult

Just think of it this way, it’s better than being kicked to the streets.

That's not even advice

It is advice. Be grateful for what you have. You have a baseline of no fail-state. Oh, and stat away from alcohol.

I am eternally grateful that I was born with nuts, unlike you brother.

is it weird to live with your parents at 18?
>>
>>33834439
It's not weird, but it's definitely a problem one should deal with as soon as possible

You’re 18 you fool. A wittle baby. Leave this place, don’t commission artists or start drinking. in fact if you’re interested in art you should pick it up now and just make your own, then you can be the one making money. Get a job if you want and do things for yourself that don’t involve wasting money. Live with your parents and family that clearly love you, save money.

Your mom is correct, drink is for losers.

OP, you're gonna find things differently compared to neurotypicals. The neurotypical way in doing things is getting told how it is done and patted on the back for little accomplishments. Autistic people we have to problem solve secretly and through making terrible mistakes. You have to be your own example OP. You do that you'll soon be independent like me. Note an autistic as an independent adult is like a tools guy as in all practical in everyday situations and driven.

Grow a pair of balls and learn to say no to your parents, you will end up like my neigbor who is a 35 year old virgin and is under his 65 year old mothers skirt all the time, and does what she tells him.

You can tell her you want a job in order to help your family members, or tell her that you can't always relay on her and that you need some degree of independence. If everything fails just ignore her and get a job.

Just say that you need to learn how to live by yourself, one day you will be alone, and you can't do it without money.
