Genuinely how do I get a job in the modern economy? Is there some sort of fucking method that I'm not doing that gets people hired? I'm in college and I just want to save some money until I move out. I've applied everywhere. I've applied for literal wageslave level pajeet jobs. I've applied online, in-store, dropped off resumes, done everything and gone through rounds and rounds of interviews, and all I get is nothing but the same old emails of>"Sorry, but we've decided to not move forward with your application."Not even McDonald's has managed to respond back and I went in for interviews countless times. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I feel like I'm at the end of my rope and I don't want to succumb to being a NEET just yet.
The job market is absolute trash right now, especially for college age kids and new grads. Unfortunately the most tried and true method of getting a job at the moment is networking, using whatever contacts you can find and make to get a job. Since you're still in school, you could try asking some of your professors for help, or see if the student services office of your campus can help you out, with work study programs or employment resources. Don't worry about looking foolish, this is the kind of stuff that will, at the very least, aid you in the long run, and the worst any of them can say is "Sorry, can't help right now".
Bumping because I am in the same boat.Pushing 30 yet still no experience, just a useless degree.. Have been a NEET for 5 years now trying to get jobs yet not even landed a single interview.. I do not even know what they ask in interviews.
>>33835138>Unfortunately the most tried and true method of getting a job at the moment is networking, using whatever contacts you can find and make to get a job.this. this is and has been the only way for all eternity. well, at least back to 2003 when I got my first job.
>>33835141I'm sure you get easily get a shitty job in service or retail. You just haven't surrendered your dignity yet.
>>33835207I've literally bent over backwards for interviews. HR ladies just want to hire retarded white girls.
>>33835233>HR ladies just want to hire retarded white girls.Sounds like you're applying for female jobs dude, get a real job.
>>33835239>real joblook man when even mcdonalds or taco bell won't hire you you know something's fucked
>>33835247yeah I know, I am broke for the first time in my life. It's pretty fuckin gay. I was thinking about making a sign and or shirt and just standing at the main intersection of my town "I need a job". It would honestly probably work here, small town.
Do what I did!> Knew I was going to University> Dreams of buying a house, having a family in the distant future> Did a few DIY jobs with my Dad but he was very much a solo worker and wasn't totally up for teaching me shit. Important for later.> Got a summer job as a general labourer on a building site. > Job was minimum wage and hard. But I told the foreman I was cool with the minimum wage and slogging, but I wanted to learn shit, too! I don't expect to be taking jobs that require pro skill, but want some exposure to learning shit.> Kept that job going for years into university, always on minimum wage, different sites, etc. > Quit when university year 2 came along and needed to concentrate. Lads gave me a great send-off.> One weekend, went to help my Dad with an electrics issue. Fixed it no problem. Showed him what I did.> Realised my Dad never showed me DIY shit because he was just winging it himself and didn't want me to realise he was just making it up all along.> 20 years later, been through five project houses that I've fixed up largely myself and only relying on trades for very specific thingsGo for a labouring job. It won't be easy, you won't earn bank, but you will gain skills that will set you ten levels above any other guy. Women love men who know how to do shit, your wallet loves when you do a job yourself for free rather than dolling out £120 an hour for a trademan to come in and do it for you while you make the tea.
>>33835312Is it too late for a 30 year old guy like me to learn a trade?
>>33835330I wouldn't start learning a trade at 30.I still know plenty guys in the trade. By the time your into your 40s, your back is fucked. The only really successful tradies are the guys who learned their shit, broke out on their own, started their own businesses and got to the stage where all they do is go out to quote jobs. Then they hire young blokes to do the donkey work and show them the trade. The guys who are still up on rooftops at 45, or still huffing scaffolding poles, those are the guys who will be forced to retire at 55 due to a heart attack. And with the way the economy is at the moment likely end up penniless and having to sell their houses to pay off the mortgage. Don't do it.
>>33835330This guy >>33835330 mostly has it right but electrician or welder are still possibilities and if you take the time to be good at either if those you can make really good money and it shouldn't be backbreaking work
>>33835046You're absolutely fucked if you're a white man in America that doesn't have any connections/networking
>>33835350I'm still amazed that my 66 year old car mechanic dad hasn't croked, he's stabbed his hand multiple times, been in multiple car accidents, been shot, been stabbed, constantly inhales all sorts of fumes, smokes a pack a day, etc, yet he still can work 14 hours a day
>>33835330Yeah, it's too late. Not only that, but you're not gonna succeed in it if you're not a charismatic social animal. You need to know how to talk to people and sell your skills so they choose you instead of any of the other thousand people offering the same thing as you. Also, if you're an honest man, then you'll be in for a rude awakening because trade is filled with deceitful people chasing money and scamming old people. Competing with scammers is not possible unless you become one yourself.
