I got a random burst of hopium earlier this year out of the blue. After being a turd my whole life and making the worst possible decisions in life every sing time. Lost 80lbs, got my GED and drivers license.

My mom lost her job last year after multiple chronic health issues came down on her all at once and made her unable to work. We were doing alright before that with both our incomes but I've been working multiple wagie jobs to support her and gubmint refuses to grant her disability after multiple appeals with an attorney.

I decided earlier this year I wanted to try to become an electrician, I understood it was difficult to get into and I've been spamming applications to every single apprenticeship possible for 6 months with zero responses. The one phone pre interview I got the lady literally hung up instantly when I told her I don't have any construction experience lol.

I keep hearing the same shit about how the trades are a meme and I should avoid them, I just figured it was something accessible to me considering my substandard intelligence and my poor education. It's sort of true though, looking at journeyman positions listed that offer 27-30 an hour. 4-5 years of an apprenticeship getting paid about the same as I do now, just to make 30 an hour after all of that. Not to mention the stories I keep hearing. Boomers who just see you as labor and refuse to actually teach you, 80 hour weeks etc. Everyone dooming about the economy and wages and how they cant buy houses but I've been dirt poor my whole life and a comfortable living wage sounds like paradise to me.

I turned 25 this year and I feel like I've already wasted so much time. And time is not something I have to waste anymore so I must be decisive. I suppose my question is just advice to whether I should pursue this or some other pathway. I understand there are better ones but I'm too retarded and educationally behind for college.
