Hey /adv/,

I've been a lurker on 4chan for awhile, ever since 2018. im a 21yr old CompEng grad student and I've struggled with a lot of things in my life, all in part of it is my fault of course (at least the things I can control). I've struggled with weight issues, discipline, maintaining good habits, procrastination, and overall living a productive life. My main struggle all stems down to discipline. I remember once reading atomic habits 2 years ago, it sorta changed my life. After I read that book, I started eating healthy, losing weight, and bettering my health. My procrastination was still shit but a lot of other aspects of my life improved. I was once 327 lbs at my heaviest and I lost around 70 lbs, and I was at my lowest around Dec. 2024.

>> Fast Forward to today
Im fucking 295 lbs, going sporadically to the gym (still going but like 3-4x a week), I can't form a coherent study schedule to save my life and I can't maintain good habits for the life of me (like I would start eating healthy for a couple days and then binge eat junk food or whatever I can get my hands on, healthy or not).

I know my problems and own up to them, but knowing how to solve it, is whats hard. There are some many retards who make videos saying "10x your discipline" or "Change your life in just 6 months". I just wanna understand whats the tried and true way of tackling your problems and fixing them permanently. Like I'm definitely re-reading Atomic Habits (even though it wont fix all of my problems, maybe it will help tackle the root of it).

Just wanna see what has worked and not worked for you guys. Cuz there is just so much information out there that it just overwhelms you and makes you second guess how to solve your own fucking problems.

>What is the key to changing your life?
Decision.

I agree, its a decision to fix yourself up and tackle your problems. ik I need to make that decision but how to go about solving the crux of all my problems is what im overwhelmed about.

>more Atomic Habits stealth marketing
Have some shame.

Dude how tf am I marketing atomic habits when I went back to my old ways despite reading the book?? I just used it as a source and im trying to figure out other ways or just an overall things to help build discipline.

Shia's got you covered.
>Just do it!
How do you go about changing your life? Find something you want to do and then mark how you want to get there.
>discipline
People who have better self control just avoid things that might tempt them. If they have a craving for sweets they don't go to the candy shop. If you want to stop eating out, when you think about doing that replace it with something more positive. Like thinking how much money you will save or how much better the food will be at home. Then just do it, drive home and cook or go for a jog.

Do basically there is no method to discipline, just action and making mindful decisions? I can't lie, sometimes that temptation is just built in, coming back from school after a two 3 hour lectures and just sitting watching tv and eating chips or whatever.

There is no key it's all a scam grift, just follow what your heart desires and aches at, it's buried but soon will reveal itself upon brute force
