>only ever really go to my boring office job and back home
>still living at home by the way (just trying to save up enough to move -- once i hit ~25k i'll feel good about just state hopping to some big city where i don't need a car)
>parents however insisting i learn to be "self sufficient" and drive
>insist i fix up one of their old cars
am i ungrateful if i really don't want to do any of that? cars are scary as fuck and i accept i have slow reflexes and am bad at being "aware" of my surroundings. i'm just so scared of getting my stupid ass killed because i forgot to look left fast enough. in fact when i first started learning how to drive as a teen i almost got me and the instructor killed by a semi, i've just been too terrified to get behind the wheel ever since

also about the driving stuff, sounds like you have trauma from that. Maybe Its good to talk to a psychologist about it and see if you've rationalized the traumatic event that you've had, or that you actually really do think that you're slow.
