She's aware she has irrational rage.One aspect you have to consider is understanding how much you can trust them, what the range of their possible behaviors are, before you allow them access to your life. If she burned all her last bf's possession and you invite her to where you live, that's on you. I didn't risk sharing until knew and trusted. I gave her the knife only when I knew she wouldn't cut too deeply if she did. Or rather, I accepted the consequences.Another thing is that you get it says on the tin. She's mentally ill. She's going to have emotional issues. You have to accept her. You have to accept her emotions are valid, even the irrational and nonsensical ones. She feels what she feels. You don't necessarily have to accept all of her behaviors but you have to accept the inevitablity of her behavior bothering you terribly.If you bring a mermaid home to splash around in your bathtub, you can't get upset if she gets your floor wet.I can't overstate how important it is to accept her.You can set boundaries and try to get her to respect them.But she's going to be who she is and you'll have to accept her.My therapist said that a person with BPD is "I HATE YOU!!!!!........don't-leave-me"
