I was staying overnight in a different State for a conference at 9:00AM. Because my Aunt lived there she suggested I stay with her. I pleasantly agreed because I didn’t think there would be an issue.I had to leave her house by 7:30 to get there and got up around 6:45. I wanted to look presentable so I spent all my spare time showering, putting on my suit, and stuff. Just as I’m about to thank her and leave, she yells:>”No anon you need to eat you haven’t eaten yet”I respond>”Im sorry I don’t have time I have to leave right now but thank you so much for having me”She goes>”Nooooooo anon you need to eat eat eat… health is more important than money you can’t go to work if you don’t eat breakfest “I tell her:>”sorry auntie but I need to leave now so I’m now late!”She goes>”nooooooooo anon you need to eat eat eat!!!” She then TAKES my shoes so I can’t put them on>”I won’t give these back until you eat!”>”Auntie I need these shoes give them back!!!”>”Only after you eat it will only be 2 minutes!!!!”We argue back and forth for like 2 minutes until I cut my losses and just decide to eat even though I maybe a bit late to the conference. She said that it would be 2 minutes…. It took her 15 minutes to make it ans everytime I tried to insist “hey auntie it’s been 2 minutes I’m going to be late” she’d just say “it will be ready in a second!!!”I got fired for being late to the conference. I have no idea what else I should have done different other than hide my shoes from her at start or physically fought her for my shoes back. I called my boss to explain on the way but he wasn’t having it since I made us look bad being late

You need to prepare for discrepancies and inconveniences and ultimately whenever your checklist is done, you need to go somewhere ready and early almost always unless given the proper clearance. Sucks that you lost your job because of the hag though, I would be fucking fuming.
