Tonight I got a phone call from someone with my same area code at MIDNIGHT - i picked up and said hello. it said "Hey bro, when are you coming back home?"I said "who is this?" and they didnt say anything for a few seconds then it got disconnected. i called back 3 times and they didnt answer. i called back on a VOIP number and they answered, they just asked "Whos this?" I said im trying to figure out that too. They hung up, i called back on VOIP and they asked the same thing but sounded annoyed, then they hung up. 20 minutes later I get a call on the VOIP number from the same person and they said "Who is this?" and I tried to explain I got a call from them first and then they hung up. I called back and it went straight to voice mail two times like they blocked my number. What the absolute FUCK is going on? I feel like someone is targeting me or I am the subject of real gang stalking / targeted harassment campaign because this is not the first time ive gotten calls like this. My dad wants me to get a new phone number. These calls are impacting my studies and life when I get them. Is this someone targeting me or is it a scammer or a confused person? Genuinely wtf is going on here? I feel like it's someone from my past who is trying to harass me or target me

Because you initiated with the recorded voice you are now on hundreds of call lists for jeet scammers.Doesn't matter if they used the same area code. That shit is easy as fuck to fake. The number you called back was the real "owner" of the number and they were just as confused as you are.Don't get a new number. Just download some kind of call screener app (I believe Google and iPhone have this implemented natively now, RoboKiller is the most popular third-party example) that will ask the person calling to list their name and reason before it rings to you.
