Why do I never feel fully comfortable around other people? Even with people I've known for years (like coworkers or roommates) I'm stiff, awkward, and can't relax around them. It's not like I dislike these people, yet no matter what there's an ever present sense of unease. I can't seem to enjoy other people's company. How can I change my mindset?

Other people are less predictable while you are more predictable. If you top others in unpredictability, as well as being smarter, then you will be tend to be most confident.
