Doesn't matter if you wanna meet people, "self-improve," or just distract yourself with some mindless entertainment. The library has everything you need FOR FREE
>Waaaa I can't make friends/find gf
Library social events and hobby clubs.
>Waaaa I never bothered to pay attention to spanish/french/german class in school
Language immersion sessions, workbooks, and software
>I'm bored and sick of being glued to videogames
They've got every movie ever made on DVD and a shit ton of manga/comics
>I wish I was more cultured
Any book you want is either right there or on an inter-library loan
What're you waiting for?
>inb4 "yucky homeless people use the library"
Into each life some rain must fall. They're basically like wild game on a nature reserve. Let them drink from the watering hole and masturbate in peace and they won't bother you.

The homeless scare me

This is unironically pretty solid advice
Last year, I was going through a breakup and moved in temporarily with my friend/business partner. He's a bit of an autist and uses the internet for strictly work so he got by using just his phone's data hotspot. I like to have music while I work plus I wanted to download anime to watch without killing my phone's data so I went to the library to work a lot.
Ended up reading a lot more books that year, sometimes when I was trying to work lol. Even met a girl because we just sat near each other all the time and went on a date with her (didn't work out cuz she lived in a different state, but hey I got to make out and suck some titties so not a total loss).
Libraries are pretty dope.

The only problem is when they stink. There used to be this huge fat homeless guy, about my height of 6'2" but double my weight easily so 400 pounds. And he REEKED. Sometimes he'd park himself by the laptop charging workbench area we had that was the best place to work, and those days I quit early lol.

Just get huge and fuck with them.
If they're acting out of pocket just go up to one and ask "what are you doing?" or "do you need help" or something like that. Do not whip out a gun or knife but be armed (concealed) just in case.
Chances are library staff and security will come see what the ruckus is about and you as the lucid not homeless person can explain what the offender what doing. Assuming he didn't whip out a prison shank and you had to pop a cap in him.

At my old game store there was a big fat smelly guy who literally went by Homeless Guy and had a branded t-shirt with a superhero logo with an interlocking H and G. Guy was an oddball.

It’s incredible that libraries still exist and offer the service(s) that they do. Good post

The only time I been to a library in the last 15 years was to use the bathroom. Basically anything I want to read or watch can be found online, and if I actually want a physical book I order it cheap used on Amazon and I get to keep it, that means highlight and scribble notes on the pages, whatever I want.

With complete sincerity, it is an absolute miracle that they even exist to the degree that they do in a country like America. Obviously most of the early ones were bankrolled by titans of industry like Carnegie, but it’s a miracle that private donations have kept them open and functioning this long. I stopped by a library in a rural New Hampshire town with less than 2k people and they even had a 3D printer setup!

I just genuinely hate the bike ride to even get there, if I had a car, i'd be going there almost daily.
> I probably need to soon anyway so my dad can have a computer for work and shit (his laptop busted and bluescreened)

It is incredible, and sometimes i like to go over there to borrow DVDs and shit, might pick one up for halloween this year

And don't forget the Dewey Decimal System is your friend
