mom:>older, like 60>complaining of aches and pains>keeps saying "well if something happens to me...">goes to bed really early >suddenly spending a lot of money (for her -- she's normally frugal but she's been buying only like steaks and seafood lately) >going to church againshould i assume something's up? am i just being paranoid? her appetite and such seems okay but my maternal grandmother did pass in her sixties, it makes me anxious. i want to ask but she's the type to bottle up everything up and probably won't tell me anything. do i man up and ask, and press her a little? i just don't know but i'm scared.

sounds kinda like my mom, she laid around all day just atrophying while waiting to die so she could get into heaven. she spent a bunch on a custom gravestone and planning her funeral. she ended up dying from accumulation of various prescription/OTC drugs. she was in her 60s, no real health problems, should have lived many more years but she just gave up on life. I haven't the slightest idea how to help, I wish I had known how to help my mom but I would suggest to take these signs seriously
