i think i talked about this in a different thread already. its best not use internet or phone or anything like that until you finish studying so you dont get dopamine spikes that then cause trouble with focusing. taking notes isnt effective when you have lots of shit to memorise. read the book or whatever else you study from and then do tests, quizzes, generally you need to have to try recall and use the information. for me when i read something about an hour before sleep i remember it word for word the next day but its not a good method if you have lots of pages to memorise. if you study anatomy its beset to read the book and have pictures next to it. if you study math or chem then just do lots of exercises

You have to engage with the material in order to effectively learn it. That means doing the exercises, if there are any, or finding some to do if there aren't any in the book. It can also mean explaining what you have learned to someone else. It can also mean putting the book aside after each section (short of long, whatever you can manage) and summarizing it to yourself in your own words. It can also mean noticing the similarities and differences (compare and contrast) with things you already know. You should do as many of these learning tactics as possible.

I should add that if I were still a student I would use AI for this - not to do the work but to have a partner to explain the material to and getting its feedback on the accuracy of my explanation.

a good way to make it 'stick' is learning it from different media/persons. read the book, watch a vid, listen to a podcast, go to a class, etc.
