I've heard live musician work also extremely competitive with abysmal or non-existent pay, producing for games, TV, etc often comes with payment in "exposure", spotify stopped paying artists entirely, and despite being kind of terrible aislop music is rapidly proliferating everywhere. Too many shareholders and execs siphoning money away from artists who fight over the crumbs.
