All my friends basically don't give 0 shits about drawing or any form of artistry as they are all engineers and other hard scientific areas. I've tried places like /ic/ or other online places but they seem to be people really easy to upset and half of it only care about it for money. I just want someone to talk about the art of storytelling or appreciate art techniques with.
>>33884947your best bet is reddit because the people there at least make an attempt to be personable, even if you don't think they are
you don't make friends on the Internet, retard
>>33884984You're probably right but then the question is how to either deal with the isolation or how to actually find someone? I knew quite a few back when I was in college but I'm about to head in my 30s and the pool of people with actual passion in their eyes gets smaller let alone art interested people.
>>33885003you're not actually isolated you said you have friends. it sounds like when you talk about your hobby it's a bit off putting, or maybe you're just not good at it or something.
>>33885009>you're not actually isolated you said you have friends. it sounds like when you talk about your hobby it's a bit off putting, or maybe you're just not good at it or something.I'm growing more distant from them the more niche my interests become. I've stopped talking about it to them and their competitive mindset vs my carefree attitude means I can't even play games with them anymore. The things needed to be successful in this world seem to go against how I operate at a fundamental level and most losers don't like hanging out with other losers.
>>33885035maybe try taking an art class and making friend there then. it's pretty hard to make friends these days because everyone has their own idea of a good time and there's many consumer options
>>33885043It's funny because I had a dream today that I asked a woman whether to search for someone who would be into these into these or to spend $3k a semester on an art school and she told me the latter would be less of an investment lol. I'll contact art schools around me if that's really the only option when their admission councilors are available.
>>33885065lol, you can take a drawing class that costs less than that and is less of a commit
>>33885077Don't you need to get admitted to the college and take a set amount of courses regardless? That's how these institutions make their money. There are drawing courses and I've been thinking about using the Internet to get into some but they won't give me friends since they are online.
>>33885086no, there are lots of normal art classes for general audiences. there are classes for everything and it's not an institutional thing. i remember when i was doing my phil degree my city even launched a free philosophy course type thing, because why shouldn't the thing you're doing be free?
>>33885096Apparently my local county does some classes once in a while, though with the shutdown I doubt it's anywhere soon. Don't know where to look for anything else.
>>33884947Art and frienda dont mix cause you'll feel like youre being used if youre better than your friend at art and feel like youre unworthy if you are worse. Had an art friend who i jokes around with once though and that was fun while it lasted
>>3388176>Art and frienda dont mix cause you'll feel like youre being used if youre better than your friend at art and feel like youre unworthy if you are worse.I've been told I'm a very self-centered person because I ask people to draw with me ultimately because I just want company or feedback. This is true but I genuinely don't get upset if people show passion it's just nobody does so it feels lopsided.>Had an art friend who i jokes around with once though and that was fun while it lastedSame. I'm tempted to dump a ton of money into college to go back to it for that reason but college has changed a lot in nearly a decade and I am probably too old to get a lot of friends. I basically had like 3 friends in college anyways.
Bumping in-case anyone knows other instances of things like this. >>33886875
>>33884947do you wanna talk with me then, i'm f from europe and i've been drawing as a hobby since i was young. i don't know a ton about art techniques though, i was in a free art school when i was a kid but beyond that i'm self-taught/pure hobbyist.
>>33890470Women terrify me and I'm skeptical of online for reasons mentioned above but sure. I'll be heading out for most of the day so I just hope this thread doesn't die by the time I'm back.
>>33890557oh it's ok, I thought you were a femnon lol. maybe i should've realized it from the occupations of your friends.
>>33890585The artist is a female and those women into history are my type lol. Met one a while back and it was heaven but she was very busy and online so never went beyond.
>>33890628i am indeed a female into art and history but i do have a bf,, that's why i was excited when i thought you were a femanon too lmaoo. well i hope you find what you're looking for anon, every artist deserves an art friend.
>>33890657I'm into hags because I'm also old and don't believe in online relationships. Don't worry lol. I really just need a friend to bounce ideas back with and assumed everyone here would be male.
>>33890454I'll do one last bump before I start asking about art schools. I'm mostly scared of school being a nostalgia trip rather than something actually helpful.
Artists that actually make things tend not to be very social/too focused on the grind. I met an artist here and our conversations are 2 sentences long on average. Still a great guy.
>>33893367I am that person. I also know I need help is the problem. I can't keep conversations for anything I'm actually interested in even outside of drawing without the person just being weirded out by me so I'm losing all of even my older friends. Maybe they are just unattracted by my desperation though I make it a point to have them talk to me first.
