like the title says, sometimes my meditation session rolls semi-nicely. Sometimes I just drift off to the neverland, getting high on my own schizoidal thoughts, just going off on all sorts off power fantasies. Its becoming a real problem in my life. Im using a guided meditation helpers from yt. How do I root my mind in the present, even when it wants to drift off in a different direction? Practical advice needed.
That’s a really common experience, especially when you start meditating regularly. The mind doesn’t like being quiet for long and will pull you toward daydreams, ideas, or memories. You can’t stop thoughts from appearing, but you can train how you respond to them. When you notice yourself drifting into those power fantasies, don’t get angry or try to force them away. Just quietly recognize what’s happening — something like, “thinking,” or “daydreaming” — and then return your attention to something simple and physical, like your breath, the feeling of your body sitting, or the sounds around you. Each time you bring your mind back, you’re strengthening that “muscle” of awareness. If guided meditations aren’t keeping you grounded, try shorter silent sessions focused only on breathing. Set a timer for five minutes, close your eyes, and just feel the breath at the tip of your nose or in your chest. When your thoughts run off, gently come back. It’ll happen hundreds of times, and that’s fine. The repetition is the point. You might also find it easier to stay present by meditating with your eyes half open and focusing softly on a fixed point, or by switching to a walking meditation where you keep attention on each step. The drifting isn’t failure; it’s part of training attention. The more patient you are with the wandering, the steadier your focus becomes over time.

>>33890313No anon. Are you okay?
>>33890292The mind drifting off is normal and happens even in experienced meditators. All you do is bring your attention back when it happens. That's the most basic meditation technique.
