Is it normal that that after like a social thing where I have heard people talking for a while, their voices keep echoing around...? If I'm not focusing on something explicitly for a few seconds I can hear them again which makes things such as sleeping really hard, though usually they disappear after I have slept. I can discern what words they say, who said them (if I know their voice) and where it came from (they don't sound from inside my head) but I cannot interpret meaning within what they are saying, which is kind of weird because they can be full sentences that theoretically should carry meaning. They don't influence my decisions or seem to be aware of my surroundings at all, unlike all the 'voices' memes that seem to be floating around, but are distracting and distressing at times.Should I be worried?? This might become a bigger problem in the future I fear.Diagnosed with autism if that helps.
>>33995624Does it ever happen with other sounds?Sounds like you might have palinacousis.
>>33995624Perfectly normal schizophrenia. I wouldn't worry about it.
>>33996870I have noticed similar things with certain video games if I spend the entire day playing them. I have had Subnautica's ambient drones and scanning chamber sound effects haunt me in the past. With voices however, they seem to develop more quickly and appear more intense. I presume this might be due to the fact that I am rarely if ever in social situations, but it could also be placebo. Thanks for pointing this out, I never connected this to other sounds.
if this is as you are trying to sleep, completely normalif you hear it at other times, not normal but not worth medicating
>>33995624Some people think in words, some in images, some in sounds. There can be a thin line between thinking about what someone said and replaying it in your mind.
>>33999454If I was merely thinking about a thing someone said, I would assume I would be able to know what they were saying.
>>33999453I'm not really worried about the symptoms themselves, but if they are symptoms of a larger problem I would like to know.
I get this too, it's like sounds get stuck in your head or your brain misinterprets noises and fills in the blanks with what sounds like voices
>>33999516They aren't worrisome by themselves, usually, especially if they're not particularly present or disruptive.
>>33999447Boy, you would love SCP Containment Breach lol.
>>33999516Could this just be a variation of the common earworm, the tune you can't get out of your head even if you don't know what it's from?
I don't think so, earworms sound from inside my head. And earworms are things that I can repeat, remember and understand either musically or lyrically. These voices are seemingly random phrases or words with no connection to anything. Again, I am completely unable to understand the meaning of what is said, but I can still hear that there is something being said. From my limited knowledge this might be due to the fact that the actual hearing and the processing of auditory information is done in different parts of the brain.
