this post is prob posted 20x a day so I apologize, but I genuinely have no idea what I'm doing and am so lost, so please help me.
I am currently 19. After I graduated high school I went to a public university in a different state than mine, majoring in accounting, then withdrew after a week because I realized it was way too expensive ($50k a year) and I felt like a cuck paying for it when the school wasn't even that good. My friends told me to go to community college then transfer to a better school
here's the problem: my grades are shit because I was planning on roping last semester so I just stopped going to class. Maybe I could transfer to an ok school because I have a 1410 sat but I won't get in anywhere crazy. I also have no interest in accounting and I have no interest in any job really.
I think my only interest in life is creating music, and my depression would be manageable if I'm able to do that. So what would you guys advise I do to pursue music while earning a livable wage? My only music skills are that I'm kinda good at piano. I'm a beginner guitarist. I'm scared that when I'm 40 I wished I focused on my career instead of fapping some waste of time passion of mine from when I was 19, but I think I really do like it. I also have no irl friends and have never had a gf but idrc that much about that, just thought I'd include for background info kek. I really can't imagine just living a normal life working a 9-5, I think id rather rope.

Here's another issue I'm facingt: my parents divorced when I was 12 because my dad cheated on my mom and my sister cut off contact with my dad. I tried to have a relationship with him but it went on and off because I didn't know if I wanted one with him because both my mom and sister hated him. we went 3 years no contact and then a couple months ago we went to a couple therapy sessions, and then after that we started talking again. But when we hung out he told me ai will replace accounting (I trusted him because he is a high level accountant, but my mom is also an accountant and she said it won't so idrk) and that I should join the military or go to trade school. I didn't want to do either of those things but I was genuinely lost so I did what he said and tried to join the military (specifically airfare intelligence). whenever we were together all he talked about was how its such a great thing I'm joining the military and that he's so happy I'm getting this opportunity. after I went through military processing I got a 97 asvab, but needed waivers for medical and mental reasons. that was about 3 weeks ago and I haven't talked to my dad since because I realized I really don't want to join and I don't know what to say to him especially after I already ghosted him. What the hell do I say to him? idek if I want a relationship with him still.
thank you for reading/any advice given I think I included everything sorry that its a lot.

I am you 7 years in the future. I now want to rope because I fucked around like a retard and now the 9-5 is inaccessible to me. Also, for an enormous amount of people, 'the 9-5' is a luxury they can no longer access thanks to indians. Please deeply reconsider the framework through which you navigate life.
As for all the other shit about your dad... idfk man give me a tl;dr

Youre s'posed to find a good candidate to procreate with, then prepare all your shit to procreate and ensure smoothness upon the consequences after procreation. In the meantime once you've secured this somewhat fundamental aspect of life, you pursue your other shit you'd very much like to pursue

Wish someone told me earlier tbhdesu

Better musicians than you(trchnical and composition wise) have been working 9-5s these past few decades. Even the ones with some commercial success and followings. Even those that tour need something to sustain themselves when theyre not in the touring cycle.
Those who were living exclusively through touring before had to rely on their business/employment after things waned off.

okay many points here

- do not got into music. you need money and experience (work experience). most musicians actually work and make music on the side.
that is an advice that works for every creative topic

- so what job ? accounting will indeed be remplaced by IA that is true, if i were you i wouldn't get into it atm. do you have any interest in computer science ? i would personnly go into cyberscurity, some sort of coding but that's because i came to have an interest into this after learning about anduril. for now you will not get into a new college before september ? i have no idea how that works, but if you have time here are some tips to get better :
- don't go in the military, you will then have not a so good resume
- study online general topics that you seem to have an interest into. but at some point you just have to get into something and hold to it
- try to be a better person : get into litterature, philosphy, you will feel less lost, it will help you find purpose and you will be a better person at the end of the day. i can give you more specific advice if you want. oh yeah, go and see your dad man

i was just like you and ended up pretty successful

I won't read walls of text that don't ask for specific advice, like I have all day to ponder OP's ramblings.

Can be anything man, depends on your skills, personality, job market in your area. Some I know of - nurses, engineers, call center agents, human resources, entry level jobs of all sorts like store clerks or cashiers or whatnot; some of the previously successful ones in the 90's and 00's became some middle management shit in corporations and banks, some started their own pubs (became gigging venues as well) and restaurants (Sammy Hagar owns Cabo Wabo). You can be a lot of things. It's just a matter of headroom/talent/opportunity on how much the ratio of music/work occupies your time or generates your income.
