Anyone here that works boots on the ground in the oil and gas industry?Trying to identify some cities and states to fly out to and try and land a roughneck job, basically the idea is to rent a cheap airbnb or motel room for a month or two in a busy oil and gas hub area, and try and show up first thing in the morning clean cut with work gear steel toes on etc. and ask for a job, is this a meme or is this really how it works?
>>34004052>is this really how it worksYes. But not right now, the oil and gas industry is really dead right now due to low prices, nobody can afford to do shit.
>>34004052Don't go blindly. Google "oilfield jobs" and see what's being offered
>>34004182Jesus man, and to think that the whole "drill baby drill" thing actually meant anything for anyone who isn't some millionaire / billionare>>34004334so basically the apply online against tens of thousands of other people shtick that exists everywhere else
>>34004444A) It costs $X to drill and complete the well.B) Reservoir engineers estimate there would be significantly less than $X oil/gas down that well given current oil and gas prices.C) Conclusion: Hold off drilling until prices rise enough to justify the investment, even if it means hurting OP's feefees.
What state do you live in? You're on the right track except you need to have a job locked down before you go and they'll pay for all of that shit. Boots included.
