I'm 28 and my father paid off a house's mortgage and signed it over to me. If I were to get married to a woman and we divorced, would the house get taken and given to her? Is it too risky? I live in Ireland.
>>34004746It really is wild how a woman can walk into a man’s life with nothing but her pussy and then walk out with literally decades of his hard earned wealth, isn’t it?
Look up your country's divorce laws. It's usually a 50/50 split thing, so it's a matter of how to balance assets, but it's certainly not unheard of to lose a house that way. More so if you the women you marry has a very low net worth. A good lawyer can help a lot, but you basically have to be a leech in the relationship to get away unscathed.
>>34004746bro I'm Irish and wish my dad was rich enough to pull this move for me. Didn't you have a massive tax liability though? You can't just transfer ownership without that.
>>34004854Also to answer your question, only if you had kids. She's not getting your house in a million years if you don't have kids with her. Best of luck lad.
>>34004861That's not true. I have a friend that just divorced and he is having to pay for her house because she refuses to allow the sale of it.
>>34004869Did they buy the house together in a joint mortgage application, is her name on the deed as joint owner? Completely different scenario if so.
>>34004880You're right. It waa a joint and he moved out, so she basically got free reign. The issue is he has the money.
>>34004885You can't oblige the other party to sell in a joint ownership situation. It's a pain for him but OP is not looking at a similar situation at all. Source: trainee solicitor in Ireland
>>34004746>If I were to get married to a woman and we divorced, would the house get taken and given to her?I have no clue about laws in Ireland but, generally speaking, in the states at least, the only property that gets split in divorce is "shared property" i.e. property that was acquired during the course of your marriage. Again, generally speaking, people leave marriages with the things they brought into it. Despite popular 4chan memes and incel propaganda it isn't the case that when you get divorced everything you own, have owned and will over own gets cut in half. That's not how it works.
>IrelandDon't let a broad within 100 feet of your property holy shit. I'd be setting up TF2 sentry guns on my porch if I were an Irish homeowner. Did the government pass that law that lets them buy your house by force at any time and evict you or was that just rightoid screeching?
>>34005010Every single government has some version of that anon, its eminent domain (or in Ireland, a compulsory purchase order). Like in the USA they will only do so if its for an infrastructure project of some kind. Its extremely rare that a house gets CPO'd without extensive negotiating and a large payout to the homeowner. What's more common is a farmer having land CPO'd for a road or something, and getting a pittance compared to what they'd have received on the private market.

>>34005708Can you leave my comfy Ireland thread you fat dyke? Thanks
>>34004746>If I were to get married to a woman and we divorced, would the house get taken and given to her?No, that's impossible. At the worst, she would only have a claim on assets that the two of you had acquired jointly AFTER getting married; anything you owned before that is safe.
>>34005755Not if he has kids with her it isn't.

>>34004746Put the home in a family trust under your father's name. Get help from a lawyer to do this correctly. If you get sold down the river, that trust is untouchable by the courts.
Reminder that in Ireland if a man and a woman have a kid together, the father isn't even considered the father of the child legally unless he marries the mother. The mother is legally the mother by default.
>>34004746>would the house get taken and given to her?Depends on where you live and what pre-nupital agreement you signed. At worst, half of the house's value is her's.
>>34006446Sure to increase the trust value of the relationship generally tenfold.
>>34006744brah the child shouldn't be anyone's child legally if the parents aren't married, let alone the "dad's"
>>34004746It depends on the laws of Ireland, but in most decent countries, in a divorce, the property jointly acquired by the wife and husband is divided, and the husband's premarital property remains with the former husband. But if she takes the children away from her former husband during the divorce, she can demand alimony, and it is not uncommon for ex-wives to mercenary spend alimony on their needs, rather than on the needs of stolen children.
>>34004746Usually only assets obtained during the marriage are considered communal property
>>34004854up to 400k tax free per parent lifetime gift/inheritance, the parents can jointly give 800k.
