can someone explain why employers are like this
>>
>>34045181
cause theyre either soulless gremlins hellbent on extracting every cent out of the economy that they can hoarde or else theyre middle management paid just enough to lick the boots of one
>>
>>34045181
We're not multiple generations in of the middle manager class machine who's job it is to just appear busy and make everyone else appear busy. There is a large cohort of people who's own best interest is to avoid talking about genuine skill efficiency and salaries because they need to defend their own salaries based on being skilless and inefficient themselves.
>>
>>34045181
Because if they just show you a darker person than you (cause you're brown), you'll go along with whatever they say like the good goykek you are.

What that really means is more gay motivational posters and team building exercises
>>
They feed you full of shit while gradually cutting pay. "You're so valued and a part of the team." Fuck that noise. Get paid what your job is worth or look somewhere else.

I am an exceptional worker but I treat my job like a partner I'm not fully on board with yet. I don't trust them to prioritize my wellbeing as I do not the company's either, honestly.
Increasing my workload? Pay me more.
Not satisfied with my work? Find another idiot to do my bidding.
Found another idiot? I'll gaslight and sabotage him alongside teaching him wrong, then take my PTO

>employer sets target people have no influence over
>people fail to meet target
>sorry no raise
>2/3rds of company straight up quits
>they raise the target
picrel

Anyway, OP is a huge faggot for posting this in /adv/ when he's not seeking advice
>>
>>34045181
Dumb, probably HR bullshit, no I don’t want team building, days out, birthday cakes, whatever, I just want to do my job, get paid and gtfo of the office.
>>
>>34045906
yep
>>
>>34045181
Not even real. You are just trying to sway public opinion so business owners have to pay for the money printing.
>>
>>34045181
institutions are afraid of mutiny and need every trick in the book to not draw attention to their own ineptitude. Everyone knows it's "bad", yet *no one* knows exactly *how* bad it really is.

I'm a Boomer and wtf is "Emotional Salary"?
>>
>>34047849
How do we get the benefits of a pizza party without throwing a pizza party or giving them a raise?
>>
>>34047034
it used to be called propaganda, now we just call it social engineering. same thing.
>>
>>34048057
bump
>>
>>34047849
It means the satisfaction felt when we kill all boomers so the world can heal
>>
>>34048057
There is social engineering that isn't propaganda, but I get your point.
>>
>>34045181
no matter what it surely is not a specific economic school of thought

On some level the goober writing this piece is aware that there is an element of nostalgia and love of home and country missing from modern life that alienates people and, for all the material wealth a place can offer, makes it inhospitable to the soul and therefore makes your motivation for living near the workplace entirely extractive.
I forgot the book I read this anecdote from but apparently during the time that Chinese immigrants came to America to find work, there were schoolyard stories being told in China about America where they characterized the country as "a mountain full of gold, but patrolled by demons with massive war clubs. They'll allow humans to mine for them, but only for 99% of the gold in exchange."
So they're trying to manufacture the feeling, the same way you can try and manufacture a sense of nostalgia and indulge yourself in it. Maybe you can trick yourself, but you probably won't succeed. This idea of an "emotional salary" is a correct identification that there IS a problem affecting the workplace and reducing productivity, but a naive failure to understand it properly.
Camaraderie comes from recognizing the faces around you, feeling at home in a web of connections that have always been there, knowing that you can rely on these people in a hypothetical time of need but that they will also stay the same as they were yesterday. Fulfillment comes from, shocker, actually fulfilling your obligations to and filling your role in this web of connections. Owning property, having a wife, raising a family together.
Essentially, the demons with the war clubs watching over us are underwhelmed by our performance recently, and are scratching their heads trying to figure out how to get us to mine more efficiently. Why are the humans not making graph go up? Maybe we should give them human toys and play human music on loudspeakers for them?
>>
>>34056769
>should we poke them with a stick?
>no, they look a bit feisty, go and put your gear on.
>>
>>34045181
That is gay.
>>
Only three things need to happen:
>homeownership needs to be affordable
>wages need to rise at a quicker pace
>dating scene needs to change by dating apps going away
There are some intermediate steps, but if these three things get solved society is fixed for 90% of people.
>>
They aren't. A lot of managers out there are stuck between a rock and a hard place, however. They have very limited power to give you a raise, even if it's on the fucking pay scale, so a business rag that focuses on trying to get them to read it will make headlines like this to capitalize on their completely normal desires to try and make their workers happy.

I won't read wondering threads about no-one in particular. Ask for advice next time.
