Is it even possible to get one? Every autism related center that is supposed to do evaluation/diagnosis all says they only do kids. The one place that said they would do adults, said that it required specific criteria that I might meet (but they didn't give the whole thing), but they also said it was more money than I can afford right now. I have a relative who told me I should get diagnosed but she won't do it herself because you're not supposed to diagnose family or whatever. What do? Pic Unrelated

>>34057273I feel like at this point the best therapy would just involve letting go of labels, just being yourself, and maybe putting a little extra conscious effort into developing social skills or ironing out weird things you do that like you don't really feel like you HAVE to do but you just sort of do it.
>>34057369I don't really want therapy or treatment to be honest, I just want a diagnosis for my own sake.
>>34057376Why do you want a diagnosis? Also just look up a place that specializes in autism, they'll test you for like $100 bucks
>>34057432What kind of places are you talking about? Everywhere near me won't do it for adults and probably costs a buttload of money.
>>34057444I found one for my wife a few years ago, this was in Texas. I googled "adult autism diagnosis + clinic doctors + my city", found like 5 places
>>34057273A diagnosis only serves to render you unemployable in certain fields.Labels get you nothing. Personal fulfillment is everything.
>>34057608Every place in my city that I have called has said they wont assess adults
>>34057909I don't really have much of a future for employment anyways, my only options for a career are all stuff that I don't have any interest in. My mom is always saying "Have you thought about [insert random job here]?" And I always reply "no" because I have no interest. So she says "Well what DO you have interest in?" And I say "nothing". But all that leaves me with is Pizza Hut for the rest of my life.
