Is teaching highschool in the United States really as soulcrushing as people make it out to be?
>>
You have to be a leader in the face of a lot of students who hate learning. Sad part about it is that it is an extremely managed balancing act between being an authority and caring for children to learn. It is really difficult. You have to have an extremely high IQ or EQ to be a teacher.

It's soul crushing because 99% of the time you are working with kids who don't really like you and don't really care to learn. If you put your foot down then they hate you even more. If you let them do as they please then they don't learn shit and end up failing and then you get grilled by the senior committee on why and saying "Nathan is a twitchy shithead who ignores all of my instructions and constantly disrupts learning for other students and I can't punish him properly because regulations A-34C and Z92-F forbid teachers to actually do anything to put the fear of God in students who are acting rashly lest their mommy and daddy show up screaming at the school board and then have the local media start printing articles about abuse in the education system" isn't considered a good enough excuse so congratulations, you are either on probation or out on your ass looking for a new job and blacklisted from 80% of available positions. And beyond that you have to keep up with the constantly changing education curriculum being updated by retards who have never set foot in a modern classroom and have a whole list of expectations on what students are expected to know by their senior year and which you'll be lucky if you can get through half of it by the time those faggots are ready to leave school.

Being a teacher sounds like hell in current year. Kids are incredibly disrespectful little shits and a militaristic style should be enforced in order to put their asses in line, but nah, if you so much as lay a finger on them everyone loses their fucking minds. You could pay me a million dollars and it still wouldn't be enough to get me to become a teacher. Fuck. That.

I'm generally of the opinion that teachers should be exclusively people past the age of 45 who already have had children, maybe even grandchildren, and are way past giving a shit and have a plethora of experience to handle school students. Admittedly I'm basing this off my own experience but all of my best teachers at school were old dudes and ladies who seemed much more chill and had a sort of commanding presence about them that the younger teachers didn't have.

That's a demographic question.
