I always get overly attached to a piece of good media when I finish it. It can be a book, it can be anime, it can be anything. If it's something I'm really into I always get a strong feeling of emptiness after finishing it. I can't think about anything else, I can't watch anything else. The feeling stays with me for weeks, it's like a sense of longing for the story and especially the characters because I always get attached to the characters and then miss the fact I can't be with them any longer and my only choice would be to rewatch/reread the media again and again.
Is it possible to stop feeling this way?

Unless this negatively impacts your life, like getting in the way of friendships or relationships or earning money then its not a problem OP. Probably annoys you but nothing to worry too much about. My suggestion is maybe use the longing and emptiness and out it to good use, use it as a tool to bolster other areas of your life. Like go and join a community centered around that media you miss, then talk about it with other fans and get it out of your system. Might meet friends this way & gives you more reason to keep dwelling on the media at the same time, kills two birds with one stone

Like, post-anime-convention blues?
