Like how you think dad only treats you well whenever you do his bidding at work. So, you assume this guy you dating will do what daddy does: Loves you, but only IF you perform like a monkey. Your relationship to your father has infected how you perceive your relationship to boyfriend. This might be a mind blower, but its basic parenting 101. Children always use their own parents as the role model.
