Does anybody here struggle with unmedicated ADHD and studying?
I'm trying to get my GED and for the life of me it feels impossible to study. 15 minutes in and my mind wonders off and I have trouble retaining anything I've learned with my GED book.
I've been struggling to do this for years.

well you know the solution, why the fuck are you complaining? when i studied adhd wasn't popular and nobody cared, let alone had cure, i couldn't learn shit without taking breaks every 10 minutes.
now you have pills for every shit, no need to suffer

I refuse to take medication.
When you would take breaks every 10 minutes did that help you retain what you learned?

not really, it just helped me to stay in the books.
to retain anything you would need to repeat things and i couldn't read material once, let alone several times.
the only thing that helps is to find stuff remotely interesting, the boring stuff i flunked

Well I think the taking break thing is a great start. I'll try that out. Thanks man - Merry Christmas.

NTA but as someone who suspects of having ADHD and unmedicated I haven't gotten care because I have no clue how to navigate the system / too chicken shit to see what the price tag is for said medication.

You should consider meds man, you don't stay on them forever you just heal your neural receptors and once you're at a certain point you wean off them and now have a much healthier brain/easier time existing.

It's pretty hard to do so. Most medication is heavily regulated, and when you go into a doctor's office and explain that you have ADHD they immediately think you're just a junkie after Adderall.
I've been unsuccessful in the 3 attempts I made to just get in touch with a medical professional that could help me with it.
I also took Adderall when I was a teenager and had a horrible reaction to it after a few years.
I could try again though.
