How do you deal with the resting bitch face of autism? People always ask me why I'm angry or sad.Whenever I try to force a smile I look constipated or freak people out. I work at retail and this is a huge problem.
>>34083613not just autism happens with me as an adhd its because of masking. Masking is exhausting and that ‘resting bitch face’ is your true resting face. And its because you probably do feel sad or irritable or negative its true. The face never lies. But what normies don’t understand is it’s possible to feel mildly unhappy but being chill with it. Thats why you might feel ‘fine’ when really you’re not, but really you are because you’ve normalised being negative but being OK with that. And normies cant compute that cuz they dont have a disorder that permanently fucks around with their cognitive or sensory perceptions

Just think of a good thought and when you have smile think of it.

>>34083732>damn you just put into words what ive been struggling to explain to people around me my whole lifei am glad I could help anon and even the struggle to explain is normal given the circumstances because of emotional dysregulation and the dysregulation happens because the brain is trying to constantly process two streams of differing emotion at the exact same time like previously described, feeling negative and yet being chill with it. This is what normies call “mixed emotions”, they have it too except they dont not have it 24/7. This is why a normie can identify in themselves their own emotions when asked, and can also identify when they feel ‘mixed’. Autists and adhds and others find it extremely difficult to know when they feel mixed or not, because mixed is their constant normal baseline. So if you ask an autistic or adhd how they feel, it’s always “im alright i think.” or “i dont know”. because they don’t know. Or sometimes they may overanalyse thenselves and feel they are fucked up or broken because they dont feel sad when they feel theyre expected to be sad, or dont feel happy when they feel expected to be happy. And they get themselves all tangled up in a mental knot over it lol. When really its as simple as their emotional processes is just like playing two radios at the same time but both radios have different songs playing. And that foggy confusing and irritating background cacophony of music is analogous to how they really feel most of the time, just busy noisy uncomfortable and tense. And that is why resting bitch face happens. And if normies had to live like that, they’d have it too. good news is all the autist needs to do is just be an introvert without apology and find a cozy quiet place with no distractions or sensory garbage and just like magic, the autist can identify all their feelings just fine and resting bitch face disappears.tl;dr the world is too fucking noisy in 2025. technology was a mistake.
>>34083613It's about the breath for me. > Breathe in over 4 sec.> Hold for 4 sec.> Breathe out over 4 sec.> Hold on empty for 4 sec.> This is called square breathing. > Slowing your breathing slows all your other vital signs> Heartrate in particular. > Let's your emotions settle and thinking kick in. One tip tho.Counting seconds in my head takes too much mental power to keep up all day. > Count with your footsteps. > You won't have to think as long as you don't count more than 4. > It let's your mind relax even further to not be consciously thinking about the count. Being calm makes others calm.
I'm rather likeable.
>>34083613Do the frowny smile where you purse your lips inwards (awkward courtesy smile of acknowledgement), and make eye contact. Or do the eye smile thing (squint) and make eye contact. Important thing is to make eye contact (this acknowledges the person). Then you can move a muscle or two. Doesn't have to be frenetic/overdone, just polite. Keeping it minimal and efficient/fast (but polite) can be more elegant/tactful/effective/savvy than going overly extroverted fake-ass route
>>34085502But what if you want to make friends? Get along with NTs?
>>34083613just turn that frown upside down silly
