>got home from bf's family christmas at like 11pm last night
>go to my car this morning at 7am
>step on this box on my porch
>not signed by anyone, just a tiny box with a tiny piece of tissue paper and a single bell
I am really creeped out. There was no similar box on any of my neighbors porches in the culdesac. I do not speak to any of my neighbors and am not on friendly terms with them. I already got a card from the management where I live.
I did date a few guys before my bf that were a little obsessive but I thoroughly dumped them/blocked them/told them I have a bf and it was literally over a year and a half ago. I'm feeling very threatened and concerned right now. Do you think it's a guy I used to date?
My bf has guns but I feel kinda freaked out that a weird guy was on my stoop in the middle of the night just to leave me a creepy present. It gives me "I won't go away" vibes and whoever it was didn't sign it because he knows I don't fucking want him
I know it seems like I'm overreacting but it just feels fucking weird

Never doubt the power of random NPC moments OP.
>Be me, live alone
>2am
>Front door handle rattled
>Handle starts yanking up and down
>Shoulder gets thrown behind door thump thump
>Someone is trynna break in oh shit
>Go and arm myself ready and waiting
>Door stops
>Call police
>Police find the guy
>He’s a construction worker, he was drunk and on drugs
>he thought my house was his grandma’s house or some shit, rambling about how he thought she was dying and needed help (hes on drugs)
>his grandma died years ago
>police sober him up and send him home
>i dont press charges since it was clearly a drugged out dumbass and not a professional criminal.

point is when humans get drunk or high as fuck they do silly shit OP. Ive seen people coming home drunk from parties, wasted, weird gifts in their hand from the party and they drop it randomly at doorsteps or give to random people, usually drunk women
>>
>>34085794
But why would anyone wrap up a single bell to begin with, why would that be a gift they'd have? It didn't even have a message or anything in it. It just feels vague for the sake of vagueness to unsettle me.
I love your optimism and will try to carry your attitude about it unless something else happens just lowkey ruined my morning a little
Also you are a nice guy for not pressing charges I would've been rattled as fuck but probably ended up at the same decision
>>
>>34085797
Who knows why it's a single bell and why they had it. Sometimes Christmas parties are weird, some workplaces host them or community hubs and they give out random meaningless shit to people. You can tell that's most likely the case because it's addressed to no one, and it's a cheap symbolic gift, typical if you are hosting a party for a large mob of people whose names you don't know and you can't get expensive shit for 100 attendees lol. So someone took that from same Christmas event and for some reason dropped it off at a random house (your house). Which yeah is weird cuz why your house?
If you live near a busy area near clubs or dance halls or near the main street in the heart of a city that's common. If your house is a bit secluded and requires directions to find, then it's weird then you can say you specifically got targeted for some reason.

Also thanks, I just try to be nice lol I never used to be, I used to be a bad guy so that's why I didn't press charges I know what it's like to be a dumbass who gets too drunk or high and makes trouble without intending it. Anyway consider installing a door cam so you can feel safer
>>
>>34085797
Also, phone around your family and ask about it ask if anyone knows anything. Maybe drunk relatives or someone in extended family trying to be nice in a weird way. Ask neighbours too, if they saw someone or remember anything, could be your neighbour was the drunkard who dropped it off lol

JFC its a bell not an IED. Just tell your twat bf to keep the piece next to the bed, get a doorbell camera and move on.

>women receives thoughtful gift
>freaks out and demands her bf to arm himself and kill anyone who says hi to her

And women wonder why nice guys are opting in to the mansopher.

>thoughtful
This niggas high on potenuse
>>34085870
The time it was left is what makes it threatening and the fact it wasn't signed and that no other neighbor has one
>>34085809
I am off the beaten path in a culdesac and my house isn't the first house definitely asking my entire family today
>>
>>34085879
>manosphere
This term gives me the make version of the ‘ick’ which can only appropriately be called the “AAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH” tom scream from tom and jerry

>women congregate to collude opinion on how to manage wellbeing for their own sex
powerful, empowering, tender and brave

>men do it
THE MANOSPHERE, AN OMINOUS DEATH STAR, A HIVEMIND OF KILLERS AND MALADAPTIVE SOCIOPATHS PLOTTING TO RUIN ALL THAT IS SACRED.

Clown world. Anyway girls are kinda like Pokemon trainers if you think about it and us men are pokemon. They wanna tie a man down and keep him, like throwing a pokeball at him. Then when she feels threatened, she says “Go, HUSBAND. Use Glock 43 9mm!”
>>
>>34085883
>I am off the beaten path in a culdesac and my house isn't the first house definitely asking my entire family today
Cool, and remember the door cam, that’ll keep things right. Another good strat is hang up a sign or sticker near or on the front of the home that reads “Smile, you’re on camera! :)” this alone bothers possible miscreants so much they get so pissed they wont even wanna rob your house or stalk anyone at the home anymore because they stop liking the people who live there they wouldnt even wanna spend effort or risk on them. That and also they dont wanna be on camera lol
>>
>>34085889
>Smile, you’re on camera!
>not "Smile, you're in my sights!"
This is how we know you aren't in God's Country (Texas)
>>
>>34085783
Why do you people get creeped out over the weirdest shit? You're not gonna get axe murdered cuz someone left a box with a bell in it on your porch, on christmas at that jesus christ.
>>
>>34085956
Give one rational reason for doing that between 11pm and 7am, I'll wait. Why a bell why not sign it why no message? If I had said I was a man you'd be on my side you just wanna be rude. Also unlike you I have a history of people being creepy to me
>>
>>34085955
If I could invent a scare-a-burglar scale 1 for least effective 10 for most effective, I would place
“Smile, you’re in my sights” as a bold 4/10.
It would only tell the criminal
> “oh, he wants me to know he has a gun. Not good, but that also means there’s something in that house he wants to protect, family man, that means gadgets and home tvs, jewellery, lots of stuff. he would think i wanna take his family i just want the loot. hmm.. worth getting shot? idk sleeping men can’t fire a gun, ill think on it.”

Then we have Smile, you’re on camera!”. That’s an easy 8/10
>”Camera? What camera? Where? Oh shit now i looked around for it camera just saw me frantically craning my neck looking for it, if it recorded that i look fucking suspect, fuck. Wheres the camera? who is viewing it right now? Nah fuck this they could send that shit to cops without even me needing to break in and ill still get heat for it, ok i need to fix this. *ding dong* hello resident i am looking for directions to blahblah where is it i dont live around here? (get told where) ok good now i can just say i was looking lost on camera because i ‘was’. Im outta here fucking stupid sign. “sMiLe uR oN CaMerA.” Fuck.
>>
>>34085970
It's perfectly legal to shoot someone on your porch thoughbeit. Doubly so at night.
>>
>>34085985
That’s badass and absurd at the same time. On one hand you get to feel super safe and defended if you gun down a criminal intending harm. On the other, you just shot up and killed someone’s bewildered autistic son who had in his head it would be a good deed to try and knock on your door at night to tell you to be careful as he heard about scawy scawy break ins recently.
>>
>>34085992
Sucks to be him then. Shouldn't have been committing burglary. FA, FO &c
>>
>>34085783
Someone had a little bell. Thought it was cute and made them smile. Decided to share that feeling.

Now, either it's someone who knows you and wanted to pass along a bit of nice feeling, or it's a total stranger who thought giving a smile to a total stranger was a nice Christmasy thing to do.

In neither case is it anything to get upset about.
>>
>>34086012
That is not normal if it was really to spread cheer it'd be with a message or something
Gonna be frank did you leave it?
>>
>>34086012
That’s such an innocent perspective it’s so cute. I also think OP shouldn’t be so alarmed either, but nah total strangers don’t do that to other strangers like that. The only time a stranger does this is when:
>They want to sell you Jesus
>They want to shill for their local group or small business
>They want to rope you into a favour
or
>They want to case your house.

The last one is the possibility OP may want to consider. Full disclaimer btw I am not a home invader and have never invaded a home. But I grew up in the wrong side of life and I learned a lot of things is all I’m saying.
If we go with OP’s gut feeling that it’s bad news, then it’s not a stalker situation it’s possible home invader situation. Leaving inconspicuous items at a porch on purpose is a trick robbers use easily. Robbers and burglars have all kinds of ways of getting info from targets without having to speak with them. One such way is dropping bait

>Gee i wanna rob a house
>People love the holidays, rich people really love flying out to the Caribbean to bring in the bells haha so festive, now they got an empty house.
>But i need to know for sure. Ill go jog past the house, drop a silly christmas bell object. Neighbours wont think its weird, theyll assume its christmas gifts from their family.
>Nice now ill wait and see if its been picked up or moved or destroyed. If it has, then fuck. House owners still present, can’t rob the house.
>Jogs back to the home next day/week. Wow its still there? No one is home. Alright time to get to work

If this is the bad possibility that unfolded, OP did alright, burglar will know theres people still at home and will pick a new target.
>>

>>34085783

Btw OP, never sleep on this: Your first alarm system/defense against spooky shit will be gut instinct. Always listen to your gut instinct because the whole point of robbery and skullduggery is the criminals whole game is finding ways to skirt around your gut instinct. That’s why they do weird shit that is semi-creepy to you, its to get you to doubt and run you into complacency so a window of opportunity opens up for them. They always disguise it as harmless or inconspicuous stuff but deep down you get a gut feeling something is ‘off’, then listen to it. Because crooks wanna make sure not to trigger your gut alarm bells.

That doesnt mean live in fear and suspect everything, but for the shit in life that happens like this where no matter how often its explained to yourself, or how many possibilities or explanations you can make for it, if that gut feeling keeps lingering, thats the sign you have correctly assessed a vague but very real threat.

So instead of pancking, you just calmly neutralize it. Door cam, raise alarm with senpai or community, etc.

OP i used to do weird shit like this just because it game me a thrill. Sometimes If i see dirty car in a parking lot, ill draw on the wind shield, "this isn't over" let whoever owns in fill in the blanks.
Life is more exciting with a little weirdness

How very very sad it must be to live within the paranoia so many of you seem to take for granted.

If someone meant you harm they would have done you harm.
>>
>>34088466
You've never had someone show up at your house when they weren't wanted and it shows
