I’m 26, almost 27. My parents get older every year. My dad is 64 and has knee problems. My mom is 59, has liver issues, is often tired, and her eyesight is starting to fail.I have to work and study now instead of just studying all day. I miss my old life. I don’t know what comes next. Getting my degree and saving money, try to get a better job. They tell me not to worry and to focus on saving money and finishing my degree, but I feel like I could be doing more. What can I do in this situation? How can I help my parents? What should I be focusing on right now?
>>34091467>I miss my old life.yeah, welcome to real adulthood pussy, want a high five?>I don’t know what comes next.hard work and determination. Just how much do you want to help your family out? If you aren't going to put in 110% effort, are you really after their security? Answer this to yourself truthfully.>What can I do in this situation?Since you aren't born into wealth, you have to make moves to account for this. That means moving your life around so you aren't living a fantasy. Are you truly studying something in college that would benefit you financially? Is it a STEM major field that would give you greater chances for employment when you complete or are you just fucking around in fantasy land? Is your work enough to pay for your own expenses, or are you still leeching off your mom and dad?>What should I be focusing on right now?if your family disappeared tomorrow, would you be able to stand on your own feet and be able to afford to feed yourself? Answer this to yourself carefully. Would you have a place to live? Food? Transportation? Communication? Could you continue the luxurious life of a wealthy academic if you funded it all yourself? No? Then you need to make moves to secure yourself as soon as possible. That could mean changing majors for a more profitable one that could get you to your goals sooner. The longer you wait, the higher the chances of your family needing financial help. It wont be long until medical bills will arrive and would you feel right with yourself if you could not do anything to help because you were fucking around in college like you were rich, when you know you are not? Lets be real. Time to actually shape the life that you say you want, but are still on the fence about doing. I am on the same boat, and you are my competition.
>>34091467I think you should listen to your parents, focus on the degree and they'll let you know when they need more help

>>34091617truth hurts doesn't it- maybe move out of your mom's house faggot and feed yourself with your own hands and you would understand.

>>34091467Who elected you savior of the world? Yes, your parents are aging, and yes, it would be nice if you could make their lives a little nicer. But it is NOT your job to stop the passage of time and protect them from what is natural and inevitable. I'm not attacking you. I'm just saying that you are assigning yourself a responsibility that is NOT yours to take on and that is impossible in any case. Time WILL pass. Your parents WILL age. But that is not your fault.
