I just got fired from my new job at a furniture warehouse for not "showing initiative" on the first day. I barely did anything because I had not idea what I was supposed to be doing and I had to wait for my coworkers to do stuff. How can I stop this from happening in the future?
>>34133813It's not your fault. You are supposed to receive training and have quite clear what you are supposed to be doing.
>>34133813"Initiative" might have taken the form of asking someone "What am I supposed to be doing?"
>>34134128This. Them seeing you do this may have been enough to make the difference.
>>34134128I was constantly asking my partner what he wanted me to do and if I was sitting down or something I asked him first to make sure there wasn't something else I should've been doing. I had to wait on him because we had to load the furniture in the trailers in a specific way and I didn't know what that way was.
>>34133912>You are supposed to receive traininglmao this is the 2020s sonshow up knowing how to do your job like you've worked there a year or don't show up at allthere is no more novice there is no more training. entry level role now means 100% output by day 10
>>34134553Stand there and pertend to take in what he's doing. 90% of work is pretending to work so that you don't get assigned more work.
>>34135131Pretty muchI've literally been glazed about what a hard worker I am at jobs where I did fuck all(because there was fuck all to do) just because I walk around like a man on a mission
>>34133813Yes
fuck it bro jerk off and play videogames
>>34133813work is mostly chitchatting building relationships with boss, lifting stuff in front of the boss then bossing the new hire around, personal experience is king, just assume everyone around you is an imposter. the rules of power book would explain this to a decent degree
By day one just means you either really don’t know how to look busy, or the workplace is fucked. Mostly the latter, as it literally makes no sense to fire some day 1 in terms of time investment on their part. Probably some ego tripping managerWarehouse jobs are a dime a dozen
