I'm 25 and feel lost in where I am in life. I just got a degree in Biology but that field is underpaid and I have a very bleak outlook for the future of the middle and lower class in America with inflation, the continued greed of corporate America, and the rise of AI. I realize I need more skills or another career path FAST, one will lead to me getting a job that at least pays 6 figures if I have any hope of retiring comfortably. My immediate hunch is that I should get into either Computer Science or Engineering. I was far too good at math for me to not utilize it that strength. It's been 3 years since I took a math course, but I can use online resources to relearn calc 1-3 and Diff EQ.Right now, I feel like I should start my endeavor into these fields by learning other actual practical programming languages besides Python which I hear is sort of a meme outside of data scienceHow the FUCK do I rewire my dopamine fried brain into getting a rush out of learning practical skills the same way I get a rush out of 3D modeling or gaming? Is it even worth attempting to get into computer science? I hear that field is oversaturated, is riddled with layoffs in favor of H1B jeets, and that most beginner positions are being threatened by the rise of AI. Should I even go for this field if I don't already have a genuine passion for it? Is there any way to develop or trick myself into having a passion for it?
>>34135151Just drink a beer everytime you do your homework. Your brain will associate homework with beer.
>>34135151Fuck off we're full
>>34135151I don't think it's possible. The truth is that it's hard. If it wasn't hard, then the people who are experts in practical skills wouldn't be so valuable.
>How the FUCK do I rewire my dopamine fried brainYou don't, we're all animals in cages forced to conform to societal expectations, we're not MEANT to rewire our "dopamine" we are simply meant to rationalise our way until we come to our decisions. The more convinced we are of our decision the easier it is to stick with it
Do a personal programming project that takes you about a week. If you really enjoy that AND are willling to really apply yourself to be a very strong candidate to hire even straight out of school and apply to a ton of jobs, then consider compsci/engLike you said the entry level jobs are drying up. You'll have to get past that wall. Senior engineers are much safer.
>>34135151>I just got a degree in BiologyIn no way does that mean you have to work in biology.https://www.prospects.ac.uk/careers-advice/what-can-i-do-with-my-degree/biology
>>34135151Anon you are plenty educated you do not need to learn more things you need to apply yourself and start a business or learn something like stock trading/crypto trading. Maybe you could start a biotech company.
>>34135167Does this actually work?
>>34137843Probably if you're not a lost cause like me
>>34135167What if I hate beer or alcohol? Can’t do this with weed because weed makes you lazy and stupid

I did bioinformatics after my biology undergrad it’s kind of like computer stuff and bio genetics put together and now I have a good job that ai can’t replace (yet)
>>34135151You don't. Studying will never feel like playing video games so stopping thinking it ever will. You just deal with it.
>>34135151Do it with friends. Its still not nice in itself but now you are overcoming hardship together. Find a study group, over time, you will probably meet people you get along with well. And if you can't find such a group, literally just find any random dude that looks alright and ask him if he already has someone to study with.Wishing you the best
>>34138357can't relate, taking light doses of THC makes studying shit way easierI picked up some japanese just watching those videos of dudes going on ome tv talking to japanese people in english and switching to japanese I feel like the people who think weed makes them "lazy and stupid" either smoke WAY TOO MUCH at once or never tried edibles (which honestly is way better for studious pursuits)Got better at drawing high as well since it makes me look at drawings "as they are" while I'm drawing them>t. AuDHD retard who likes drugs sometimes
>>34147913It's a double-edged sword. It helps with art while you're high, but then it fucks up your REM sleep which impacts learning.
>>34147923why i tend to space out my use to then fix my sleeping patterns because it is true it can fuck up your sleep, though at least for me I have retained pretty much everything I've learned highsober I tend to forget bits of info, I read somewhere supposedly taking light doses of THC edibles has long term benefits vs the typical smoking blunts or doing bonghits which really should only be done with a group of friends for a celebration rather than solo on your ownWon't lie I have had very nice flower high sleep but it's not the same kind of sleep as just getting a good night's rest sober after being tired from an activity
