I have a large collection of books and my new house has these little paper-eating shits crawling around. I've seen them in nearly every room in the house by now.I have filled every cupboard in the house with moth balls to drive them away, the place reeks of camphor 24/7 now and they're still here.Is it over? Do I have to pay the big bucks for an exterminator?
Seen these around my parents' apartment for 25 years
>>34136762just remove the humidity and the dust brothey also eat paper i think but idk for sure
>>34136762Mothballs don't do much for silverfishThis >>34136808 and they will eat your food.
>>34136762Keep the house extremely clean and well-hoovered. Keep all food in airtight containers. And the most important thing is to keep the house bone dry. They love humidity. Seal up all cracks and buy a dehumidifier. Liberally sprinkling food grade diatomaceous earth anywhere they might be walking will help too.
>>34136762I had them too but they sorta just stopped showing up a lot more
>>34136762had a similar infestation and i had to physically remove them lmaovinegar ventilation etc didn't work, ventilation made it worse even, only helped spread the eggs. poisoning them is hard without the right equipment, so i had to squash them out of every surface
>>34136762i have this bastards too, plus my whole city is humid 24/7 so it's over
I have a well-bred population of spiders in my room corners they keep all insects in check except some mosquitos
>>34137078Gross, gtfo of here
>>34137212stfu
>>34137212if i ever find out who you are and where you are i will RAPE you.
>>34136762Heat treat your books to kill the glue-eaters, diatomaceous earth in the nooks and crannies everywhere else.
>>34137293Don't threaten me with a good time, fag
>>34136762The fumes from traditional mothballs are extremely toxic and carcinogenic to humans by the way. It's basically rat poison except airborne. You mentioned camphor though so just making sure they're not actually naptha or something. You'd probably be better off using diatomaceous earth or traps though.
>>34137293You're indian>>34137592You're gay>>34137779You're foreign (reddit)>>34136762Yes, pay for the exterminator. Money is for things like these.
My cat catches them!
>>34136762Throw salt around. It is cheap as fuck. You won’t really notice it. Most insects and things like that are born without their protective exoskeleton and salt will make quick work of them. It will kill fleas or whatever. If you wanna be really thorough, you can make a solution with warm water and use a spray bottle to leave salty residue all around edges. They like edges. Just tossing it around is probably good enough. A large beer can size is enough for a few years.
Long time ago the infestation got really bad so I bought a trap - essentially a piece of cardboard with glue. I managed to place the trap on one of their highways and I caught a shitload of them and then the issue significantly reduced.>>34137078This guy is right. If you have a spider, don't disturb it, because I guarantee that it's better to have a spider rather than whatever the spider eats. Unfortunately, there's no way to completely get rid of silverfish. These fuckers will persist no matter what you do. They've been pretty much everywhere I lived. Honestly they're the least annoying of house bugs because they don't bite, don't gather, only show up at night. I tried the trap again in my new apartment but I didn't catch a single fucker.>>34136815When I lived in rental I didn't care shit about cleanliness and I always had fungi in my bathroom. Now in my own place I keep it spotless and also the ventilation is very good. The difference in amount of silverfish is negligible.
>>34136762Get a handful of these motherfuckers and set them free in your house. They are one of the only animals to hunt for fun, they can genocide hundreds to thousands of silver fish and cockroaches in a single day.

>>34136762Bug bombEssentially it empties an entire can of spray at once. Use with care and follow instructions
>>34139493What the hell is that
>>34142246Centipede
>>34136762It’s difficult. Even if you somehow solve it, your neighbors and stuff you bring home will have them.
>>34136762Buy cimexa on Amazon. Apply it where ever you think these things travel. Avoid diatomaceous earth.
