A.k.a. "living in filth". Should I enlist the help of social services to clean my house and maybe pimp up my house inventory? What's the problem with that? I also stink and have mental illness or multiple.

It could possibly turn into a real problem if they come to the conclusion that your living style endangers you.
Depends massively on country of course.

The thing is they have this catch-all term in the rental contract about inspections that can be applied to property hygiene, and if I don't comply they may have a ground to disband the rental agreement. I've already been reading court cases.
Social services would help with that, but at what cost?
NEET or die in Europe.

Maybe I'll get an indication for hoarding... I have it somewhat under control but I should have enough surrounding problems to justify some care thing, be dutifully pitiful lol

In my country in Europe it's possible to get help with that. Some social services here do can do that.
If that's an option for you, well, here, for example a doctor or a psychiatrist could initiate it.
And yeah, hoarding sucks, I went down that hole once when i had reduced mobility for medical reasons.
I'm ok now.

I just have very low energy and get comfort from stuff not moving even if they're spilled around or dirty, and it takes more energy to decide if something is trash or not than to take it out.
It's not full-on hoarding because I don't accumulate mass that quick, part of the issue is I just don't have adequate shelf space / closets and getting those is difficult because I don't have a car or much budget flexibility.
But it's probably the closest thing to my actual problem including root cause, so yeah.
I guess I'll have to go on a charm offensive and hit up a whole bunch of suppliers, ugh. Well if it keeps me in independent housing it's fine.

Good luck!

So to be absolutely clear, I'm primarily looking for perspective on the CONS of getting a social worker, and to getting into that whole circus, and what pain points I just might be able to pre-empt or minimize while it's going.

The very act of cleaning will improve your mental state. Also, you sound like you need exercise. Exercising your brain to decide what is trash is exercise
