>Is that employee consistently meeting deadlines and producing high quality work?>Time to shovel a bunch of extra responsibilities on them so that they now struggle to meet deadlines and the quality of their work suffers!>Let's make sure we provide them no additional support to keep up with these new expectations.>Also let's make sure everyone else at the company keeps their regular workload even though they have plenty of free time.>Just keep putting more and more pressure on our most reliable and experienced employee until they can't take it anymore and quit! Why are companies like this?
>>34141440Because you're working too hard. Did you try being mediocre? Then they'll expect less of you.
>>34141448But why do they seemingly intentionally burn out and drive away their only good employees? Are they stupid?
>>34141440Nah hell nah you are lying, I know this for a fact because I’m the lazy ass worker who does shit last minute and I never get in trouble because I just banter to escape accountability. I seen the shy introverted workhorses at work, autist types who do everything on time and produce high quality work. What happens in reality is this:>Hard worker gets all the work done quickly>There’s still 4 hours until shift is over>Bosses know the worker will be bored>they ask them if they want to help with x y or z>The shy hard worker has no boundaries and says ‘yes’>They do the extra work>They keep saying yes>yes yes yes yes>Eventually everyone automatically assumes they want extra work by default>Everyone dumps work on them assuming its okay>Shy hard worker autist office man goes online>”GUYS THEY ARE USING ME AND EXPLOITING ME REEEE”Just say no ffs
>>34141459Because it feels good to make your slaves work harder.
>>34141509>>Hard worker gets all the work done quickly>>There’s still 4 hours until shift is overYou've already made up a scenario that is not accurate, dumb nig.
>>34141440This happened to me at my old place (and eventually I quit). I think the lesson is to just do a good job, but don't do 200 APM like you're planning a zerg rush or something. Whenever I was assigned new work I would make it a painful experience for management: Hey I am working on: (and list everything I have going on). Where does this exist in the priority? Are you happy with where I put it in the priorities? Etc. So that management knows that when they ask you to do something, it won't be a simple yes (or no), it will be this whole ordeal. But keep doing a good job!Balance in all things.
>>34141509>Just say nothen you get fired. maybe not at the dollar general where you work but at real jobs you don't really get to choose what you do, you are told what to do.
>>34141440What's your fucking point, retard? You think we should give more work to the people who can't handle it?
>>34141679Don't drive away the only people who actually do their job well.
>>34142086The only alternative is to give the work to people who can't do it. And no, they are not "driven away" they are promoted and given pay rises. Have you ever actually had a job?
>>34142097>they are promoted and given pay rises.lmao
>go to work minding my own business >make it to work on time. never complain. never hold grudges.>don't talk to coworkers or management much, just do the job and go home. >supervisors still take the time out of their day to make my life a living hell at work anyway >why? I don't know
>>34141440>Why are companies like this?Because it's strategically suboptimal to have any worker be irreplaceable. Any person that does the work of two or three people is distorting the cost of losing them in a way that leads to bad decisions about hiring and planning. You should provide no more labor than they are willing to pay for, which is a totally exchangeable cog worthy of no individual consideration. Stop cucking for Mr Shekelberg
>>34141630>real jobs you don't really get to choose what you do, you are told what to doAss backwards take. Low-wage low-responsibility jobs are where you will have your daily itinerary dictated down to the second. Shelf stockers suffer more supervision and less freedom than army grunts.
>>34141440its called surplus value dude any excess productivity gets fed back into the system rather than enjoyed by the worker... theres a reason its taboo to meet quotas in factory work, its because theyll just raise the quota. the labor conditions get progressively worse proportional to the surplus value generated by the workers because surplus value is the exploitative element, its how the business makes money. if there was no surplus value, if the capitalist compensated his workers with 100% of the value they generated for him, then he would only break even. this is the most basic law of capitalist exploitation and showcases the inherent asymmetry in the relation between employer and employee.
