Whenever someone pays me a compliment, especially online, I more often than not pay them back one. Is this bad? How do I umm.. be better about this? Is this bad?? Is it invalidating to them? I think I just can't take a compliment...
>>34146076don't do it, it turns things into a shallow act of politeness instead of a good transaction of giving and receiving. Especially if you search for something to compliment the other only after you've been complimented yourself, then it is certain that your back-compliment will be worthless
>>34146395So how do I stop? I feel bad when others compliment me. I don't care either way but sitting with it makes me uncomfortable, even though I feel as if I just don't care. Which isn't true because, well, I do. Do I just sit with it? Idek.
>>34146076This is really self-aware of you. You must be pretty smart.
>>34146076You 'pay' in compliments? You're such a fucking Jew capitalist pig American that everything is transactional for you? Shut the fuck up
>>34146076That's a very nice post.
>>34146564Some variant of "that's a very kind thing to say" is how you refuse a compliment gracefully.
