I want to learn how to let go. I'm 30 and I still constantly think about my past mistakes from a teenager, wasting my time thinking about what ifs and all of that. I want to know how to forgive myself so I can move on and stop letting my life pass me by.

This will happen naturally but over time, 1% every day. Just focus on letting it ruin your life as little as possible.

The key is in understanding that the path to a good life is paved with mistakes. If you didn't screw up back then, you would still have to screw up in the future. It's better that it's behind you, rather than in front of you. And the fact that you look back at it now and feel embarrassment is a testament to the fact that you've grown, learned your lesson and become better than you were at the time the mistake was made. Every time one of those thoughts pops up, meditate on this idea. Eventually they'll stop showing up.

If somebody you are in good relations with made a mistake from long ago and really regretted that, I assume you wouldn't hold it over their head

Why can't you extend yourself the same courtesy?

Literally me but a few years younger than you. In my experience this guy >>34209939 has the right idea, now applying it is a different story.
What mistakes do you regret that make you kick yourself?

I’ve made mistakes in the past as well but I don’t think about them because I’ve had many good things in my life since then. Such things will help you forget.

you need new experiences just do shit nigger

Thank you all for the advice, it's put things in a new perspective for me and I'm going to try some new things to lessen the burden of guilt. If that makes sense.
>What mistskes do you regret that make you kick yourself
More than anything, the way I treated my past relationships with friends and family. I loved them dearly but couldn't express it, so I tried to push them away.

Not easily. Recognizing is the first step, the rest comes with time. One day you will find it tiring of finding the same origin to every problem, then you will focus more on solving the present because it's the only actionable thing.
