taking suicide off the table for 5 minutes, im at a predicament in my life. im studying compsci (laugh at me later) and although it does genuinely interest me, my real dream is becoming an artist, specifically in a rock band playing guitar. ive been learning guitar although i still suck ass and dont have money to get pro classes but thats ok cuz i can just learn online. the real problem lies in me being a total fucking loser who has no friends and has no idea where to even start to look for a group of guys who would like to form a group. in my downtown theres a bit of a scene but i feel weird walking uo to a group of guys with their instruments and being like "can i join your band?" should i just give up on my dream and completely commit to my career? help bros.
>>34210633and its all so confusing bcuz in general the "safe" route of going to college and getting a job irght after is just as risky and dangerous as oursuig a career as an artist bcuz theres so many people huting for the same job as you. its a race. and specifically in compsci where its being taken over by ai the only humans left are asains and pajeets. so at the end of the day bith career paths are dangerous and risky. nothing promises me that if i give up on my musical career, a career in tech awaits me.
>>34210633I'm gonna be 100% honest with youI think you should just walk up to them and be like "can I join your band?"
>>34210673this is possible?
>im studying compscihahahahaha
>>34210633> Taking suicide off the table for 5 minKill yourself in 6 min.Sorry it's /adv/ it had to be said

>>34210633we sound pretty similar man (compsci but real dream in rock music). Are you on the west coast?
>>34211248lol what a coincidence, no im in the south
>>34210633I was like you, in the same field, with a will to creat. but being an artist is gay and retarded. I got a PhD instead and doing research fulfils my need for creativity and complex problem solving
>>34210633>I want to be a rock guitarist>I suck at guitarIsn't that expected?
>>34210633It doesn't work this way.If you have skills in that genre of music, you walk up early in the night, shake hands to introduce yourself to band or roadies, and ask to sit in on a couple of songs. If they like you, you stay up there for a few more songs, or you sit down and observe the master's already at work. Being a musician has ALWAYS been a side gig hobby, not a dream, dummy. Get a day job and maybe take a college class in theory. Oh pro tip, you need to be working in comp sci already, make sure you do actual internships or get your phD.
>>34211760how do i even get backstage? all the bars in my city where bands play are kind of high security and im autistic so i have no idea how id even get back stage and introduce myself
