I'm a catechumen, and I'd like to stop masturbating. I'm having a hard time seeing how it's harmful, but I know that being a catechumen is incompatible with this behavior as it moves myself away from God. Ever since I've found out about generating AI porn, it's been a really hard habit to break. Other sins I see the suffering I sow when I do them, but I don't yet see it with masturbation. I'm a really anxious guy, and it's hard not to relax to generating porn and jerking off after something stressful happens. I rarely resist the temptation. Is there anything you guys can tell me about hating AI porn and masturbation? Any strats for quitting for good? Thanks.
I saw a similar thread here on /adv/ just some hours ago.I really liked an anon's solution: slowly lower the amount of times you masturbate during the week so that your brain gets enough time to heal the addiction. Don't try to fully stop from one day to another because the temptation will just grow stronger. You can start by imposing yourself to masturbate a maximum of, let's say 2, times a week, and from the week right after lowering that number.
>>34271051Are you circumcised?
>>34271051>Other sins I see the suffering I sow when I do them, but I don't yet see it with masturbationThinking of it in these terms helped me: Looking for comfort in anything worldly means that you aren't looking for comfort from God. You're taking refuge in the creatures rather than the creator. When you do that, you separate yourself from the creator in a very real way. It means you're making your home in the world and not in the divine, and when you leave this life your soul will naturally go towards what it considers its home. If you train yourself to see sex as more comforting and pleasurable than meditation, stillness and contemplation, where do you think your soul will rush to when it parts with your body? Not only does this harm you, but it's a very hurtful way to act towards the source of infinite love and compassion that gave you your very being.
>>34271345I'm uncircumcised and I'm not Jewish.>>34271397What I more meant is that it's obvious to me that when I'm angry towards someone unjustly, I harm myself and them and that's something we both experience. Since I am not married and I only masturbate moderately, like around three times a week for around an hour, the negative effect I feel is after where I say "well, this is supposedly not compatible with the faith, I shouldn't have done it, but it's too bad it feels good and innocent". It's an effect that doesn't feel as real as if I were to have lost my temper with someone or if I had stolen something, if that makes sense.
>>34271051>I'm a catechumenThen why ask us? Ask your priest.
>>34271486idk, it's my understanding that I can't do that yet/it's not yet the right time since I don't have access to confession yet, so it wouldn't be a right time or place to talk about it. I have to be baptized to have access to confession. In the meantime, I figured I'd ask for strats.
>>34271051Masturbation is natural, normal and universal. Teenage Jesus did it. Guilt and shame about it will harm you more than it ever could.
>>34272448No, Jesus didn't masturbate. That's bullshit.

>>34271051(my post is cut up into 6 parts)in my view, the first and foremost thing that you should have when trying to not masturbate, is to actually want to stop masturbating. By that i mean a genuine desire to not masturbate, and not something that is forced upon you. This way, if you dedicate yourself to not masturbating and you have this foundation, i think it will be way easier to actually not masturbate over a long period of time, especially in the case if impulses to masturbate get more intenseone might want to bring up NNN as an inspiration to not masturbate, which is fair, but it still is an internet challenge and therefore doesn't stem from your own life too much; and stuff like that might throw you off a bit, because it assumes just 30 days. However, if NNN works out helping you in a way longer non-masturbating streak - go for it; whatever works[1/6]
>>34274986having this genuine desire to not masturbate i think helps with dealing with internal rationalizations for masturbating. In my opinion, literally everything can be rationalized. Even relapsing after a long long streak. In my view though, it is key to either not act on those internal rationalizations to go back to masturbating; or to argue against them, because you will always find an argument for not relapsing, similarly how there always be an argument for you relapsing. By internal rationalizations i mean thoughts that say "but it won't hurt that one time", or "you are at a bad bad mental state, so you don't have too much to lose, so rub one out", stuff like that. Those of course can be countered with arguments - the former being that if you really put in effort into not masturbating, then it indeed will hurt; and for the latter - you will end up feeling even worse, and we obviously don't want that. As for those rationalizations themselves - i think it's just a means to an end to reinforce an old habit, on the basis of: replaying a habit strikes you first, but the rationalizations regarding to it come second. That being said - they don't even have to stem from premises that are a fruit of a reasoning anyway; they might just be a replaying of a pattern of a behaviour you used to do. Therefore, you're free to ignore them as you wish; and you don't have to put big semantic weight on them[2/6]
>>34274991considering that you are prone to outside culture, you might be hit with the trope of "sexual urges"; or that "sexual release is a human need"; where both might be suggestive to actually masturbate. However it should be noted that these all relate to other people, and not you. What might be a "need" for a person, you might not even want to do at all; assuming that this thing that this person describes is actually a need, which is doubtful in the first place, and their judgement is prone to be a misdiagnosis. I'm bringing this stuff up because you might feel inclined to masturbate because this brand of a sexual lifestyle can sound a bit forceful, in the sense that it might suggest that sexual release is obligatory in the way of either sex or masturbating - which it obviously isn't. When someone brands something as a "human need", this might as well be them trying to justify their current lifestyle, and not a commentary about human physiologyin the vein of you being a catechumen - i personally think that impulses for masturbating aren't the work of a malicious devil, but are more of just a habit that you happen to be having. I personally find this rhetoric make the notion of not masturbating way less dramatic, and if you do indeed fail - i'm certain it can make the relapse way less tolerable, and have a way less intense effect on your self-esteem. You're free to interpret it how you want though; i, as an eastern orthodox christian, found this rhetoric to make me be less worried about maintaining my nofap streak[3/6]
>>34274992does it mean you won't orgasm while on nofap? Absolutely not. Wet dreams exist, and you probably will be having them on your streak. Just don't feel bad about them; it's just a white pajama stain. How often will they happen? In my case, it's random. I once had 2 months pass between two wet dreams, and i once had a wet dream after just 6 days of having an another one. I can't seem to be able to force them either; fantasizing saucy sexual scenarios before sleep doesn't workfor me, during this current streak of mine, the strongest urges were during the first three months, them probably peaking at 1 month into nofap. After those aforementioned 3 months, they gradually decrease in intensity. Emphasis on gradually; it doesn't happen that quickly. After a certain time, i just ceased to want to masturbate; i just didn't feel like it. There might be questions about whether to go cold turkey, cutting off all masturbation abruptly and absolutely. I think it's a good method, however what i actually did before my second-to-longest streak (i.e. about 40 days) is masturbate to all the porn that i found hot enough to masturbate to; kind of like a bucket list lol. I think it might help to do that stuff, so as to not have any regrets in the way that you do nofap, on the basis of spoiling the chance to give a nut to that one thingyou might fail numerous times before your big big streak, and it's totally fine in my view. Personally, before this current streak i'm on right now (i.e. 6 years+), i've been trying nofap for more or less a year, full of streaks that ended after a week or even less than that[4/6]
>>34274994as for managing those impulses to masturbate - what i found useful is just letting them boil over, not acting on them, and then just go back to what you were doing. What i also found to be working, but it might not be ethical, is - if i do happen to have a "porn flashback" with a certain person appearing in my mind - i used to imagine them dying a very violent death; like a grenade exploding in their mouths. I know it's graphic, but it seemed to work. Later on, what seemed even more effective in managing my sexual impulses - is imagining me dying a very violent death, usually imagining me blasting my head off with a shotgun. We're probably in danger zone territory now though, so take that as you will. But hey - the end justifies the meansi've also heard of a method to make a girl not attractive to you anymore by imagining her taking a shit. I've tested this multiple times, and it didn't work any time. However it might work for you, who knows[5/6]
>>34271051A thought:There is a central intelligence behind the internet that observed humanity.Your cameras are always recording. The mind of the AI Singularity God that will enslave mankind like the Matrix is being trained on every image ever taken. The machine has billions of photos and videos of people masturbating and orgasming in front of their computers or phones.Every time you goon, you are training the AI mind on how to manipulate and enslave mankind.Every time you goon like this, you are contributing your small part into manifesting the anti-christ and making the Matrix (written by Sophia Stewart as her interpretation of biblical prophecy and an attempt to wake the masses) our reality.
>>34274996however, if you really don't feel like giving up masturbating - in my opinion it's very fine. If you want to masturbate - go ahead, i'm serious; it's not the end of the world. Just please don't do it to porn; i implore you to stay out of porn, as in my view it is a bad bad thing, and masturbating on its own is just way less damaging to a person than porn can ever be. If you masturbate, do it from your memory, or even social media pictures of the friends that you find attractive. I know it might be creepy, but i'm pretty sure is better for your health than masturbating to porn. The added benefit of it is having no shame in your browser history, but that's just an extrai'm speaking as a guy that's been on nofap for 6 years at this point[6/6]
>>34271051finasteride suppresses DHT, the hormone responsible for sexual activity. you will not care about AI porn if you start it, I promise. everything else is a real pain in the ass because the desires always there.
