This girl I'm seeing has the exact same name as my mom and it freaks me out a bit. It's not a common name at all and can't really be shortened into a nickname. What do I do here? It's a real turn off for me. She's perfect for me other than that one thing that keeps throwing me off. Would you go out with someone who has the same name as a family member?

I dated a guy with the same name as my dad. And later a guy with the same nickname as my brother, that was weirder.
It was weird at first but I got over it. How often do I call my dad by his first name anyway?

Call her a different name. Almost everyone has some alternate name. Second name, nickname etc.
