So I have a problem. I would really love to go back to school and become a nurse, but I already completed a degree in comp-sci and my grades were middling. In Canada we use a 12.0 scale and my average was a 9.0, or a B+. Not awful, but not the best. I've been out of school for some years, working the whole time as a programmer. I'd like to attend one of Carleton, Algonquin, or Ottawa U (if those names mean anything to you) in one of their BScN programs, but I'm not certain I could get in with my current GPA. Raising it to an A- would be rather difficult given the amount of courses I have already taken (we're talking straight As with a full course load for multiple semesters, I did the math). Are there any other pathways available to me? I obviously intend on applying anyways, but in the event I don't get in I'd like to hear some other options. Thanks in advance.
>>34271802>9.0 out of 12.0 Nigger that is a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale which is atrocious. That’s barely a B- in most US schools (side note I see now why so many jeets are feening to get into Canadian universities) That being said, why do you want to become a nurse? Do you have a passion for helping people or find it interesting, or is it just the pay bump? Consider that even if you make it your life will now include wiping crippled asses and emptying bedpans on 4 hours of sleep on your 12 hour shift.
>>34271802Go for it. At your level, having already demonstrated the discipline and ambition to do better than average in getting a degree, the burden of proof to be worthy of acceptance into another program is MUCH less than it would be for a typical 18 year old. (I don't mean the standards are lower, just that you've already met some of them)
>>34271946Canada grades differently than the US. It translates to a B+, or a 3.3 in the 4.0 grade scale according to international conversion charts from an assortment of universities. Not certain why that's the case, but it probably has to do with educational standards in the respective countries. Either way, I have a desire to help people in a tangible way, I find healthcare more interesting than the monotony of my current programming job, I have talked with relatives who are nurses who have given me a no-nonsense view of the profession, and I've always appreciated health care workers because of chronic conditions (that have since been managed) that I've had since I was a kid. Wiping asses and emptying pans is at least something good I can do that's less nebulous than my bullshit programming gig.>>34272433I'm certainly going to go for it, that goes without saying. It's more a question of next steps should admittance prove a problem.
Genuinely you're too fucking stupid to be a nurse don't even try.
Nursing is for losers
You will never be a nurse you will never make something of yourself and you will never be happy. Just end it.
